That lasted until last weekend, when I started seeing some of the more bizarre positions of the Republican nominees. Huckabee wants to end birthright citizenship, institute a national sales tax and abolish every other federal tax, (I suppose the states will just go without) and judging by his record, let men who rape Democrats out of jail and then pretend he had nothing to do with the trail of bodies left behind.
Ron Paul - the next most popular GOP nominee in my community - wants to end the war and shrink government. I'm all about ending the war, but libertarian-style small government? Seen it. Not interested. He's also an anti-integrationist and homophobe.
The Pink House? What an outrage that, for the first time in our nation's history, the organized forces of perversion were feted in the White House.... I miss the closet....Is it any coincidence that the AIDS epidemic developed after they came 'out of the closet' and started hyper-promiscuous sodomy? I don't believe so, medically or morally. [The Ron Paul Political Report, 1990.]I'm so sad that "God Cures Gays" seems rational next to Paul and Huckabee, but to paraphrase another GOP loser, we have to run the country with the politicians we have, not the politicians we want.
[MLK] was also a comsymp, if not an actual party member, and the man who replaced the evil of forced segregation with the evil of forced integration. King, the FBI files show, was not only a world-class adultered, he also seducaed underage boys and girls. [The Ron Paul Political Report, 1990.]
