I'm the featured reader for the night. I have two 20-minute sets to fill. They're gonna pay me $20 whole bucks! (and pass the tip jar). I can sell books and merchandise if I want. I don't have anything to sell, though. This is actually a big deal for them - the poetry is outselling the live music at this venue, and they've expanded the 2-hour readings to three hours. They like my stuff enough to give me a x-long feature spot, even though I'm not a poet.
