It shows the conditions of their condition at the fronts of the First World War on the eve of the February revolution of 1917. An attempt was made to ascertain the political position of Ukrainian officers, their moods, behavior, social and political attitudes in the period of revolutionary events in Ukraine in 1917 and in the first months of establishment of the Ukrainian statehood. The article shows the personal officer's attitude to the change of the political system and the attention is focused on the problem of choosing their political path.

In the article a features of the political moods of the and Ukrainian officers during the rule of Directory of Ukrainian People’s Republic and government of the West Ukrainian People’s Republic in 1918-1920 have been highlighted. There are a comparison of political views of the Ukrainian Galician Army’s and Ukrainian People’s Republic’s officers. A special attention is paid to the design of the image of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic authorities in the perception of Ukrainian officers against the backdrop of the revolutionary, military and political events in the Ukrainian lands for a certain period. The characteristics of relationships, confrontation elements between governments, individual political leaders of the UPR, WUPR and Ukrainian officers have been selected.

Особливої актуальності на сучасному етапі розвитку історичної науки набула історія повсякденності. В історіографії елементи повсякденності УГА почасти висвітлено у публікаціях В. Рутара [3; 4; 5], Ю. Зроблено спробу простежити взаємовідносини офіцерів з Центральною Радою та їх стосунки із солдатами в армії. Визначено, що в результаті революційних подій 1917 р., для взаємин між українським офіцерством, яке було ядром національно-визвольного руху, і урядом був створений сприятливий грунт. Однак, недалекоглядна політика Центральної Ради викликали невдоволення в значної кількості офіцерів. Поряд з цим, революційні впливи в армії позначилися в цілому на негативному ставленні командирів і рядових вояків один до одного
The article analyzes the political moods of Ukrainian officers of the former Russian army. An attempt was made traced the relationship of the officers with the Central Council and their relationship with soldiers in the army. Determined that as a result of the revolutionary events of 1917, for the relationship between the Ukrainian officers, which was the nucleus of the national liberation movement, and the government was created a favourable groundwork. However, short-sighted policy of the Central Council have angered a significant number of officers. Along with this, revolutionary influence in the army was reflected by the overall negative attitude of the commanders and ordinary soldiers to each other
