The "Treaty of Environmental Education for Sustainable Societies and Global Responsibility", rele... more The "Treaty of Environmental Education for Sustainable Societies and Global Responsibility", released in the Eco-92 was the milestone that introduced environmental education into the school curriculum as a public awareness tool. This project, implemented meaningful learning with teaching methodology action using ecotoxicological tests with simple organisms and easy to perform with high school students in a public school in Sorocaba. As result of the ecotoxicological tests, a degree of eutrophication of the samples was observed, not detecting significant problems in the analysis of water samples, demonstrating efficiency of treatment systems and capture the city of Sorocaba. The central purpose of this study to take environmental education in the form of knowledge, training and awareness about the damage to the environment to a population of students and teachers was reached. The experience of the application of the concept of meaningful learning associated with environmental education was the important aspect of this work.
