The objective of this study was to systematically study and interpret the number of species groups through the adjusted Rand index (ARI), from the combination of the hierarchical technique and connection method characteristics. We attempted to facilitate the work of researchers on the number of groups and validation of the groups. The original data based on the Mahalanobis distance, the hierarchical single linkage, complete linkage, average linkage, Ward's and ARI methods were applied. For the validation of methods, cophenetic coefficients and the ARI were used. It was observed that the use of the ARI had the potential to significantly improve the decisions regarding the number operating groups, becoming, therefore, a recommended technique to search for the optimal number of groups.

A gradual increase in diagnosed cases of lymphoma has led to greater dissemination of relevant information and has simultaneously revealed a need to improve understanding of the pathology. The prevalence of lymphomas involves many factors that vary regionally, with regional differences in prognosis indeed playing a role in therapeutic decisions. This observational study aimed to retrospectively evaluate the prevalence of lymphoma subtypes diagnosed between 2011 and 2015 at the Napoleão Laureano Hospital, the largest hematology facility in Paraíba, northeastern Brazil and a state reference for hematological oncology. Immunohistochemistry findings and associated prognostic variables were analyzed, including calculation of prognostic indexes such as the international prognostic index (IPI), age adjusted IPI, National Comprehensive Cancer Network IPI (NCCN-IPI), mantle cell lymphoma IPI (MIPI) and follicular lymphoma IPI (FLIPI). The most noteworthy findings include the large number of young people diagnosed with aggressive disease, with poor prognostic indexes but low mortality rates, confirming the technical strength of the institution as reflected in the improved prognosis associated with the disease. The prevalence of Hodgkin lymphoma was found to be high, contradicting a considerable part of the international literature but in agreement with some studies conducted with pediatric populations in Brazil. In addition, the most prevalent subtypes of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, already well discussed in the international literature, were also represented in the present sample. All cases of lymphoma registered at this center were catalogued, with their prognoses and anatomopathological and immunohistochemical diagnoses being analyzed, consequently providing a better database for this geographical region of Brazil.

Considering the relationship between data on smoking consumption and people's perceptions of the effects of smoking, the objective was to provide a more complete exploratory analysis of the data, using grouping techniques, drawing profiles of participants in the Multidisciplinary Tobacco Treatment Program (PMTT). From the 117 variables of 714 PMTT users produced from the original patient's medical evaluation questionnaire, 32 variables relevant to this study were selected. 495 users were filtered which contained information on the 32 selected variables, being 5 quantitative, 22 nominal qualitative and 5 ordinals qualitative variables. Este estudo teve como objetivo geral verificar o processo de institucionalizacao da nova contabilidade publicanos Conselhos Regionais de Contabilidade (CRCs) do Brasil. Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa exploratoria,bibliografica, descritiva, com abordagem quali-quanti, atraves de questionario com escala Likert, aplicado aoschefes dos setores de contabilidade dos CRCs. Para analise dos resultados foi calculado o Ranking Medio (RM)e aplicada uma estatistica multivariada, atraves da Analise de Cluster. Nos modelos não lineares os dados são ajustados através de uma combinação não linear dos parâmetros. A inferência bayesiana é uma importante ferramenta que pode ser aplicada a este tipo de modelo. This study aims to compare the performance of each method (hierarchical and non-hierarchical) of the grouping formed by several HDI from the 27 brazilian states, through the cluster analysis technique. As well as determining how many states there are in each formed group, to thus specify which technique best represents the data. Data from Atlas Brasil 2013 were used in relation to the 2010 HDI. The multivariate statistic has been used in divergence studies concerning plants species. Analysis of the similarity or distance among individuals is an important tool for population. This among aims to present the main show the main coefficients of similarity and dissimilarity and their properties and the importance of axioms for the complement of similarity for the methods in cluster analysis. We evaluated the changes caused by five different similarity coefficients in the group of 11 plots and 17 species. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have recently received growing attention as they have great potential for many distributed applications in different scenarios. Whatever the scenario, most WSNs are actually connected to an external network, through which sensed information are passed to the Internet and control messages can reach the WSN. This paper presents WISeMid, a middleware that focuses on integrating Internet and WSN at service level instead of integrating protocol stacks and/or mapping logical addresses. WISeMid allows the integration of WSN and Internet services by providing transparency of access, location and technology. To validate WISeMid, some results of a power consumption evaluation of the middleware are presented.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have great potential for many distributed applications in different scenarios. As they grow in popularity and importance, it becomes increasingly desirable and necessary to share their data over the Internet. This paper presents an energy-aware middleware that focuses on integrating the Internet and WSNs at service level by providing transparency of access, location, and technology. In particular, it describes and evaluates the implemented strategies to reduce the energy consumption, which are essential for prolonging the WSN lifetime.

It is expected that future wireless systems will consist of several distinct radio access technologies, forming a multiaccess system offering voice and multimedia services. Previous works have shown that the combined capacity region of such systems depends on the service allocation policy that assigns user sessions to the subsystems. Current policies typically operate off-line, implying that the service mix is known a priori. In this paper we consider the on-line problem where sessions arrive one after the other and no assumptions on the service mix can be made. We study the performance of four on-line bin-packing algorithms by simulation and show that the algorithm termed LessVoice provided the best performance in terms of blocking probabilities and throughput.

Quantum analogues of the (classical) Logical Neural Networks (LNN) models are proposed in [6] (q-LNN for short). We shall here further develop and investigate the q- LNN composed of the quantum analogue of the Probabilis- tic Logic Node (PLN) and the multiple-valued PLN (MPLN) variations, dubbed q-PLN and q-MPLN respectively. Be- sides a clearer mathematical description, we present a com- putationally efficient and simply described quantum learn- ing algorithm in contrast to what has been proposed to the quantum weighted version.

In this letter, the computational power of a class of RAM-based neural networks, called General Single-layer Sequential Weightless Neural Networks (GSSWNNs), is analyzed. The theoretical results presented, besides helping the understanding of the temporal behavior of these networks, could also provide useful insights for the developing of new learning algorithms.

A novel way to simulate Turing Machines (TMs) by Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) is proposed. We claim that the proposed simulation is in agreement with the correct interpretation of Turing's analysis of computation; compatible with the current approaches to analyze cognition as an interactive agent-environment process; and physically realizable since it does not use connection weights with unbounded precision. A full description of an implementation of a universal TM into a recurrent sigmoid ANN focusing on the TM finite state control is given, leaving the tape, an infinite resource, as an external non-intrinsic feature. Also, motivated by the results on the limit of what can actually be computed by ANNs when noise is taken into account, we introduce the notion of Definite Turing Machine and investigate some of its properties.
