ABSTRACT: The battle against racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and sexist practices constitutes an ethical-political challenge both to society as a whole and to the field of Social Research. This paper highlights discourses of resistance to the widespread manifestations of hate speech and human rights violations, especially towards minoritized groups, articulated since the 2018 presidential election in Brazil, when Jair Bolsonaro was elected
president. This study is based on a socioconstructionist view of discourse and social identities, whose key analytical foundation is the power of intervention of language. The analyzed texts reveal the construction of intersectional racial, gendered, and geographical identities, as well as the adoption of a critical stance towards the politics of exclusion by using media literacy competences so as to spread counter discourses in online social networks.
