Abstract: Hannah Arendt says totalitarianism is a form of government with no precedents in political history. Her book published in 1951, The Origins of Totalitarianism, can be read as a great defense of this thesis, demonstrated with a potent argumentation. The present paper aims to highlight some of the elements that attest to the originality of the arendtian analysis, especially the problem of superfluidity, terror, ideology and loneliness.
KEYWORDS: Arendt; totalitarianism; superfluidity; loneliness.
