Economic and exact formulations for section analysis and frame element modelling together with a suitable solution strategy and technique are adopted to construct an accurate and efficient analysis algorithm which could contribute to a more economic design of RC frames. The analysis procedure is demonstrated through the application of three examples in which its accuracy and etIiciency in comparison with experimental and other analytical results are verified. 62, 331-336 (1967).

The encrypted images can later be subjected to compression to utilize the available bandwidth efficiently. This research paper presents the performance evaluation of discrete wavelet transform when used for compression of encrypted color images. The test images are first encrypted with stream cipher RC4 and then compressed using wavelets including db1, db2, sym1, sym2, coif1, coif2 and bior1.5 with various compression rates. These encoded images are transmitted. On the receiving end; they are first decompressed and then decrypted. It is found that the wavelets coded encrypted images perform well for bit rates of 2 bits per pixel and above, with Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) greater than 39 dB and Mean Square Error less than 6.9. The PSNR of encrypted images is compared with the PSNR of unencrypted images subjected to the ...

For analysis of the properties of two different nonlinearities, an advanced mutually Lipschitz condition is proposed. This mutually Lipschitz condition is more general than the traditional Lipschitz condition. Unlike the latter, it can be used for the design of a feedback controller for synchronization of chaotic oscillators of different dynamics. It is shown that any two different Lipschitz nonlinearities always satisfy the mutually Lipschitz condition. Applying the mutually Lipschitz condition, a quadratic Lyapunov function and uniformly ultimately bounded stability, easily designable and implementable robust control strategies utilizing algebraic Riccati equation and linear matrix inequalities, are derived for synchronization of two distinct chaotic oscillators. Furthermore, a novel adaptive control scheme for mutually Lipschitz chaotic systems is established by addressing the issue of adaptive cancellation of unknown mismatch between the dynamics of different chaotic systems. The proposed control technique is numerically tested for synchronization of two different chaotic Chua's circuits and for obtaining identical behavior between the modified Chua's circuit and the Rössler system.

Cognitive radio system is a mechanism which allows unlicensed cognitive users (CUs) to utilize idle unused bands. Fast and reliable detection of primary legacy user is the key component of cognitive radio networks. However, hidden terminal and low SNR problems due to shadow fading put fundamental limit to the sensing performance and practical entailments in design of the cognitive vehicular networks. Extensive modeling is being carried out to specify varying channel characteristics, particularly multipath fading and shadowing. Energy detection-(ED-) based spectrum sensing is a viable choice for many vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to-road-side infrastructure (V2I) communications. This paper examines the performance of spectrum sensing using ED over Gamma-shadowed Nakagami-m composite fading channel to cater for both small-and-large scale fading. The results highlight the notable impact of shadowing spread and fading severity on detection performance. The relevant simulation results are presented to support our analytical results for average detection probability. Furthermore, these results are investigated and compared to other compound and classical channels.

Arsenic is not geologically uncommon and occurs in natural water as arsenate and arsenite. Additionally, arsenic may occur from industrial discharges or insecticide application. World Health Organization (WHO) and Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority have recommended a permissible limit of 10 ppb for arsenic in drinking water. The arsenic at lower concentrations can be determined in water by using high tech instruments like Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (hydride generation). The arsenic concentration at low limits of 1 ppb could not be determined easily with simple spectrophotometric technique. Therefore, Spectrphotometric technique using the silver diethyldithiocarbamate was modified to achieve the better results, up to the extent of 1 ppb arsenic concentration.

ED has been proposed for spectrum sensing in cognitive radios and various wireless applications. A closed form solution for modeling ED under shadow-fading conditions using lognormal distribution is complicated and is the main drawback. In KG fading model, shadowing

In addition, shadowing effect also produces small scale fading. Thus, introduces basic limits on spectrum sensing methods in cognitive radio. Hence, instead of classical distribution based channels for modeling shadow fading, a composite or mixed distribution is much more demanding. This paper quantifies spectrum sensing in shadow

The objective for selection is to maximize the coverage of faults that are aborted by a sequential fault simulator. We pose the problem as a combinatorial optimization, and present a heuristic algorithm based on Simulated Annealing. The SCOAP testability measure is employed to assess the selection of flip-flops during the course of optimization. Our algorithms form a part of an integrated design package, TOPS, which has been designed as an enhancement to the OASIS standard-cell design automation system available from MCNC. We discuss the TOPS package and its performance on a number of ISCAS'89 benchmarks. We also present a comparative evaluation of the benchmark results.

A near optimal simple, but effective job packing algorithm called the Select-Replace algorithm has also been presented to minimize external fragmentation. Proof of the concept has been given with the help of a simulation study. Five workloads which were derived from a clean version of the parallel workload archive (CTC, LANL, and SDSC. NASA) have been used to evaluate and compare proposed heuristics with previous techniques. With the simple but effective optimizations, significant (56.1%) performance improvement has been achieved as compared to EASY scheduler.
