I teach both yoga and theatre studies. My research is inspired by ancient and modern yoga fundamentals, including breathing, meditation, and expressive techniques. I’m interested in different interactions between yoga and performing arts, especially those present in Konstantin Stanislavski’s legacy.

Papers by Vicente Mahfuz Joner
Konstantin Stanislavski described in his works the concept of superconscious as the origin of the actor's creativity. This paper provides descriptions of the superconscious in Stanislavski's writings and discusses the possible influences of Yoga in the development of this concept. To do that, it observes similarities between Stanislavski's writings and works of Yoga and Psychology authors prevailing in his time.
Konstantin Stanislavski mentioned the concept of prana in one of his works to explain the actor’s communication without words on stage. In this article, I present Stanislavski’s discourse points, which is possible to identify how the concept of prana energy could be understood theoretically and practically from his studies in Yoga. I present Yoga references from different historical moments, including books that Stanislavski owned in your personal library. I also analyze the respiratory practice proposed by Stanislavski intended to balance the prana in the actor’s body.
