Based on a reanalysis the Michelson-Morley experiment using this extended transformation we show that such unknown speed is analytically determined regardless of the Maxwell equations and conceptual issues related to synchronization procedures, time and causality definitions. Such a result demonstrates in a pedagogical manner that the constancy of the speed of light does not need to be assumed as a basic postulate of the special relativity theory since it can be directly deduced from an optical experiment in combination with the principle of relativity. The approach presented here provides a simple and insightful derivation of the Lorentz transformations appropriated for an introductory special relativity theory course.

We prove the result by using Maple’s NPspinor package to convert the five-index necessary condition obtained by Alvarez and Wünsch to dyad form. The integrability conditions of the problem lead to a system of polynomial equations. We then apply Maple’s grobner package to show that this system has no admissible solutions. The dispersion of nanoparticles in nanocomposites of an epoxy matrix reinforced with alumina (10n... more The dispersion of nanoparticles in nanocomposites of an epoxy matrix reinforced with alumina (10nm) and zinc oxide (100nm) is analyzed using FIB/FESEM images, varying the volumetric fraction of fillers from 0.2 % to 6.0 %. The nanofillers dispersion images were transformed to binary files and the multifractal spectrum was calculated. From these data the relation between agglomerate and individual particle dimensionalities related to the interphase percolation was investigated. Interphase percolation of nanocomposites should be achieved when the dimensionality of agglomerations is greater than the dimensionality of individual particles. The actual percolation state of the interphase is determined, matching the experimental nanocomposites behavior for electrical behavior at AC and dielectric breakdown at DC.
Spherically symmetric relativistic model for spiral galaxies and dense stars

For such a purpose and to take into account relativistic effects, we find a family of exact solutions of the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkov equation, which contains as a particular case solutions corresponding to a (gamma)-law equation of state. The mentioned family can also be used to model the (luminous or dark) matter content of spiral galaxies as it fits the observed data for their orbital velocities profiles.

The scattering matrix and the phase shifts are calculated using the Prüfer method. We analyse the glory effect and compare the results with the correspondent 4D cases. We show that the sensitivity of the correspondent gravitational lens decreases with the number of extra dimensions.
