EVALUACIÓN DE UNA MODIFICACIÓN AL CÁLCULO DE PESOS EN EL MODELO VECTORIAL PARA RECUPERACIÓN DE INFORMACIÓN, 2011

On this research it is proposed a variation of the calculation of weights in the traditional vector model "rewarding" the early emergence of terms, in order to observe and assess their impact on the quality of the results. Also, the practical implications are discussed in this type of modification.
It was possible to vary the order of relevance of documents in order to improve the quality of the first results received in response to their queries. The idea of "rewarding" as discussed early has proven to be useful in carrying out automatic summaries with the technique of "extraction" (Maña López, 2003, pg. 18).
Furthermore, the reader will find the bases and foundations supported on this study. Two versions of the vector model were implemented: one with a proposed modification and one without it. To compare them, we used the standard measurements in order to get results and then accomplishing an analysis of the results to determine whether or not to use the proposed alternative and under what circumstances.
