transformation began that also entailed a recomposition of Egypt’s regional strategic alliances. The
analysis of these transformations makes it possible to evaluate the scope of the changes —or the
continuity— in the country’s foreign policy and the evolution of the adaptation policies implemented
by Egyptian diplomacy in the regional arena between 2011 and 2016. This article analyses case
studies of relations between post-Mubarak Egypt and the Gulf countries, most specifically Saudi
Arabia, as well as other countries in the region like Libya, Syria and Palestine, in addition to
examining ties with the United States.
