I started my research career in combustion, catalyst, nanomaterial synthesis and, microfluidic since my third year of my B.Sc. at University of Tabriz in Iran, following with my M.Sc. at Istanbul Technical University in Turkey. I joined SAGE in the spring of 2017 to pursue my Ph.D. career under the supervision of Dr. Bihter Padak. Currently, my research is focused on developing novel SCR catalysts for utilization in the reduction of the emissions such as NOx and mercury from coal-fired power plants. I am also working on the formation of pollutants in the Oxy-coal combustion systems.

The future viability of these technological solutions will depend on numerous factors, including safety, environmental, regulatory, and economic considerations. Safe deployment of these technologies requires additional research and development activities. These range from an improved quantitative understanding of hydrogen leaks, material limitations due to embrittlement, very large-volume liquefied hydrogen storage and transport, to equipment-and usage-specific considerations as is the case for gas turbines and electrolyzers.

Controlling and manipulating liquid jets are of great interest in practical and scientific aspect... more Controlling and manipulating liquid jets are of great interest in practical and scientific aspects. In the present work effects of transverse uniform electric field on behaviour of liquid jet, streaming downward due to the gravity, is experimentally investigated in details by performing a precise image processing of the extracted high speed video frames. In the experiments, by altering liquid flow rate and applied electric field strength, authors have tried to study the interplay of electrical and hydrodynamic forces which are indeed the main factors acting on the jet behaviour e.g. deflection, rhythmic motion, breakup mechanism and satellite droplets formation. Major aim of this study is to manipulate liquid jet so as to attain uniformly sized droplets by removing satellite droplets which has potential applications in various industrial and laboratorial units. This procedure was performed by applying dielectrophoretic force to the water jet as a polar liquid. Furthermore the droplets and also satellites behaviour, influenced by transverse electric field, have been investigated thoroughly.

Characterization of polyacrylonitrile, poly(acrylonitrile-co-vinyl acetate), and poly(acrylonitrile-co-itaconic acid) based activated carbon nanofibers

In this study, three different acrylonitrile (AN)-based polymers, including polyacrylonitrile (PA... more In this study, three different acrylonitrile (AN)-based polymers, including polyacrylonitrile (PAN), poly(acrylonitrile-co-vinyl acetate) [P(AN-co-VAc)], and poly(acrylonitrile-co-itaconic acid) [P(AN-co-IA)], were used as precursors to synthesize activated carbon nanofibers (ACNFs). An electrospinning method was used to produce nanofibers. Oxidative stabilization, carbonization, and finally, activation through a specific heating regimen were applied to the electrospun fibers to produce ACNFs. Stabilization, carboni-zation, and activation were carried out at 230, 600, and 750 8C, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and porosimetry were used to characterize the fibers in each step. According to the fiber diameter variation measurements, the pore extension procedure overcame the shrinkage of the fibers with copolymer precursors. However, the shrinkage process dominated the scene for the PAN homopolymer, and this led to an increase in the fiber diameter. The 328 m 2 /g Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area for ACNFs with PAN precursor were augmented to 614 and 564 m 2 /g for P(AN-co-VAc) and P(AN-co-IA), respectively. The TGA results show that the P(AN-co-IA)-based ACNFs exhibited a higher thermal durability in comparison to the fibers of PAN and P(AN-co-VAc). The application of these copolymers instead of AN homopolymer enhanced the thermal stability and increased the surface area of the ACNFs even in low-temperature carbonization and activation processes. Experimental study on the role of electrical conductivity in pulsating modes of electrospraying

In the present experimental study, the effects of electrical conductivity on electrospraying mode... more In the present experimental study, the effects of electrical conductivity on electrospraying modes and its produced droplets are investigated. A metallic nozzle with 0.6 mm ID as high voltage electrode were employed in a point to ring electrode configuration in this work. Experiments were carried out in still room temperature. Four different aqueous KCl solutions were sprayed in various high voltages and flow rates. Results confirmed that spraying modes are more dependent on electrical conductivity rather than flow kinetics. Applied electrical field required to form a cone shape on the nozzle tip decreases with increasing conductivity. Moreover, results revealed that electrical conductivity of dispersed solution plays a decisive role on elongation of the cones in ES procedure. Smaller size of produced droplets was obtained by increasing conductivity of dispersed liquid while velocity of filaments emanated from liquid jet decreases at the same time. In this study, we have presented insight to the role of physicochemical properties on the pulsating modes of spraying.

The effects of dispersed liquid flow rate, applied voltage and electrical conductivity of liquids on droplet motion and its size were considered.
