This project will run a quantitative study in a controlled environment in which participants will be asked to evaluate clips of synthesised speech that contains different levels of expressive capabilities (e.g. neutral vs. expressive). The speech presented to the participants will have happy as well as neutral content which will be evaluated using a questionnaire.
This project will determine the impact of employing expressivity in synthesised speech and how it affects perceptions of trust, personality, and desires to interact with different voices. Several issues are also identified in this research with the MOS scale that are used to measure the outputs of human agent interaction.
