Both governments built in a Nationalistic style that focused on centralizing its culture, using immense neoclassical buildings, and an overall ambition to imitate the ruins of ancient civilizations like Greece and Rome.
Across the world, geothermal energy has immense potential as a renewable energy source. With coun... more Across the world, geothermal energy has immense potential as a renewable energy source. With countries like Iceland producing 25% of its electricity and heating 90% of its buildings with geothermal energy, it is estimated that over 17% of the world’s population could eventually rely on the earth’s heat for their energy. Alberta has thousands of oil and gas wells which are hot enough to produce geothermal energy, and with its highly skilled workforce, it is in a strong position to become a world leader in geothermal energy development. This paper finds that investing in geothermal energy would diversify both Alberta’s carbon-reliant heating and power grid, as well as its economy.
