February is National Children’s Dental Health Month 🦷✨
Between school drop offs, work, and everything in between, dental appointments can slip down the list. But building healthy habits early makes a difference for a lifetime. Brushing, flossing, and keeping up with regular checkups helps our kids grow up with strong teeth, healthy gums, and confident smiles.

Over the weekend our young community came together at the Boys and Girls Club of UAII to build confidence, talk through life after high school, and stay rooted in culture while stepping into adulthood with a Navigating Adulthood workshop!
From leadership insights to community guidance, this space reminded us that success is not just about careers. It’s also about identity, confidence, and knowing you have a village behind you.
Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month is a reminder that not everything labeled as love is healthy. Pressure, constant monitoring, guilt, and isolation are not signs of care. They are warning signs.
Native youth experience teen dating violence at higher rates, which means these conversations matter in our homes, schools, and communities here in Los Angeles.
Let’s normalize talking about boundaries. Let’s believe young people when they speak up. Let’s teach that love brings peace, not pressure.
Protecting Native youth is a community responsibility. 💜

UAII is a trusted donation hub serving Native and Indigenous families across the city, and we are always accepting donations.
We are currently in need of gently used and clean clothing and shoes for all ages. We also accept brand new essential items such as food, feminine hygiene products, baby items, hair care, body care, and pet essentials.
Your donations directly support Urban Native families accessing healthcare, housing support, workforce services, and community programs at UAII. When you give, you are helping reduce stigma, increase access, and remind our community that care is rooted in culture and connection.

Tribe of the Month 🪶
This month we’re honoring the Gila River Indian Community, home to the Akimel O’otham and Pee Posh peoples.
For thousands of years, their ancestors transformed the Sonoran Desert through innovative canal systems, agriculture, and strong community life rooted in culture and tradition. Even after the Gila River was diverted in the late 1800s, devastating their farming economy, the community endured, rebuilt, and continues revitalizing their lands and water today. Their story is one of resilience, unity, and cultural pride.
From Arizona to LA, we honor Indigenous communities who continue to protect land, language, and legacy.

#TBT to last year we were honored to welcome Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez to UAII 🤍
He spent time connecting with our leadership and learning more about the vital programs and services we provide to Native American communities across Los Angeles. From health and housing to workforce development and youth programs and childcare, this visit was about sharing how our work supports Native individuals and families every day. We also talked partnerships, future goals, and how we continue building resilience, growth, and cultural preservation together.
We are always grateful to welcome vital community representatives who take the time to listen, learn, and stand with our community as we continue building a stronger future together.
On January 31, 2026, the UAII Childcare & Resource Center and Community Engagement & Resource Development team hosted a transformative Wellness Program that reached full capacity with 120 attendees. The message was clear: our Native families are seeking culturally responsive wellness spaces. 🫶🏽🏙️
Presenters from DMH, North Los Angeles Regional Center, and UAII shared powerful resources, with keynote speaker Robyn Gomez leading “A Caregiver’s Guide to Emotional Wellness,” offering real tools and encouragement for our caregivers and community.
We were honored to stand alongside partners including Taniff, COC Native American & Indigenous Alliance, NASSP, Jacqueline Diaz of the Erick A. Garcia You Are Enough Foundation, and NAMI. 🤝🏽💙
This gathering reminded us that when Native community comes together, we create space for connection, resilience, and cultural strength.
Join UAII Workforce and our partners at Goodwill for a beginner friendly Computer Skills Class designed to make everyday tech feel less intimidating and more doable. This hands on workshop covers basic computer terms, emailing, and navigating the internet in a supportive community space.
