The relationship between organizational practices and the worker's personal commitment is analyze... more The relationship between organizational practices and the worker's personal commitment is analyzed through a model that considers the proposal of Meyer and Allen. It was determined whether the perceptions of said practices influence commitment, and whether such influence is greater in companies with quality systems. 357 workers were interviewed by means of a Likert scale which measures support, justice, participation, commitment, opportunities, management commitment with quality, and intention to change employment. Data analysis was done by means of structural equations. The results support a model of two commitment components, in which the strongest link with the company is affective and strongly influenced by support and opportunities, followed by the management's commitment. Contrarily, the perceptions of justice have little effect on commitment. In general, the perceived practices showed greater influence in companies with quality systems, but the differences were not significant.

Corruption involves greed, money, and risky decision-making. We explore the love of money, pay sa... more Corruption involves greed, money, and risky decision-making. We explore the love of money, pay satisfaction, probability of risk, and dishonesty across cultures. Avaricious monetary aspiration breeds unethicality. Prospect theory frames decisions in the gains-losses domain and high-low probability. Pay dissatisfaction (in the losses domain) incites dishonesty in the name of justice at the individual level. The Corruption Perceptions Index, CPI, signals a high-low probability of getting caught for dishonesty at the country level. We theorize that decision-makers adopt avaricious love-of-money aspiration as a lens and frame dishonesty in the gains-losses domain (pay satisfaction-dissatisfaction, Level 1) and high-low probability (CPI, Level 2) to maximize expected utility and ultimate serenity. We challenge the myth: Pay satisfaction mitigates dishonesty across nations consistently. Based on 6500 managers in 32 countries, our cross-level three-dimensional visualization offers the following discoveries. Under high aspiration conditions, pay dissatisfaction excites the highest- (third-highest) avaricious justice-seeking dishonesty in high (medium) CPI nations, supporting the certainty effect. However, pay satisfaction provokes the second-highest avaricious opportunity-seizing dishonesty in low CPI entities, sustaining the possibility effect—maximizing expected utility. Under low aspiration conditions, high pay satisfaction consistently leads to low dishonesty, demonstrating risk aversion—achieving ultimate serenity. We expand prospect theory from a micro and individual-level theory to a cross-level theory of monetary wisdom across 32 nations. We enhance the S-shaped Curve to three 3-D corruption surfaces across three levels of the global economic pyramid, providing novel insights into behavioral economics, business ethics, the environment, and responsibility.

ABSTRACT The burnout syndrome is a typical response to chronic stress in service organizations pr... more ABSTRACT The burnout syndrome is a typical response to chronic stress in service organizations professionals. It usually appears when coping strategies fail (Gil-Monte 2007). Objective: To determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome in pre and post graduate medical students of a General Hospital (IMSS) and its relationship to psychosocial factors, personality and sociodemographic variables. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out on a sample of 82 medical students. Subscales of the Questionnaire to evaluate Quality of Life at the workplace of Health Professionals (UNIPSICO 2007) including the CESQT were used. Results: 39% of the sample was made up of men and 61% by women, the mean age was 26.49 (sd ± 3.59). We found a 1.64% prevalence of burnout syndrome. For each dimension we found that 95% had high levels of enthusiasm for their work, 74.4% presented high levels of emotional exhaustion, 13.6% showed high levels of indolence and 9.8% high levels of guilt feelings. High levels of over commitment were found in 78%, a variable that also had a significant relationship with emotional exhaustion, indolence, feelings of guilt, interpersonal conflicts and enthusiasm at work. Conclusions: Patterns of personality were significantly associated with burnout syndrome dimensions. The positive perception of psychological as social support and interpersonal conflicts is positive to cushion the development of burnout syndrome dimensions. El Síndrome de Burnout es una respuesta típica al estrés crónico característico en profesionales de organizaciones de servicios. Usualmente aparece cuando las estrategias de afrontamiento fallan. (Gil-Monte 2007). Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia del Síndrome de Burnout en estudiantes de medicina de Pre y Postgrado de un Hospital General (IMSS), y su relación con factores psicosociales, de personalidad y variables sociodemográficas. Método: Se realizó un estudio transversal en una muestra de 82 estudiantes de medicina. Se utilizaron las subescalas del Cuestionario para Evaluar la Calidad de Vida en el Trabajo en Personal de Salud (UNIPSICO 2007) incluyendo el CESQT. Resultados: El 39% de los participantes fueron hombres y el 61% mujeres, todos ellos con una media de edad de 26.49 años (s=3.59). Se obtuvo una prevalencia del 1.64%. Para cada dimensión se encontró que el 95% de los participantes tuvo niveles altos de Ilusión por el Trabajo, el 74.4% presentó niveles altos de Agotamiento Emocional, el 13.6% altos niveles de Indolencia y el 9.8% altos niveles de Culpa. Se encontraron niveles altos de sobreinvolucramiento en el 78% de los participantes, variable que también tuvo una relación significativa con el Agotamiento Emocional, la Indolencia, Culpa, Conflictos Interpersonales e Ilusión por el Trabajo Conclusiones: Patrones de Personalidad fueron significativamente asociados a las dimensiones del Síndrome de Burnout. La percepción positiva de factores psicosociales como el apoyo social y los conflictos interpersonales es positiva para amortiguar el desarrollo de las dimensiones de síndrome de Burnout.
