To understand how teenagers from different educational settings experience SNSs in their quotidian and to identify the paths taken by them to adapt this technology to their demands, an exploratory and phenomenological study was designed with 26 participants from urban and suburban areas of Rio de Janeiro and Bahia.
The findings reveal that, regardless their educational backgrounds, both groups of students succeed in adjusting this technology into a means that attend their particular needs and support their lifestyles.
For instance, they manage to integrate the benefits obtained from Instant Messaging service with those gained from social network site use, via a creolization technique. They also worked the "non-achievement of critical mass of a certain SNS in their favor, by developing new uses for this technology. Finally, they developed a new way to communicate and virtually hangout, through the activity of "meme-sharing", supported by the commenting box and the Like button.

Therefore, the five dimensions of interactivity – identified by Downes & McMillan (2000) – are measured by analyzing the elements of the tweets. These constituents determine the relationship to knowledge established in this online community.
The results demonstrate that, despite the low degree of interactivity, the dissemination of knowledge happens in a sociable and intimate environment. "
