The process of spreading and further strengthening of Islam in Daghestan (13th-15th centuries) was accompanied by the penetration of book culture in Arabic and Persian, but it was the Arabic language and Arabic literature that became an integral part of the culture of the Daghestani peoples. Arabic script became the basis for the emergence of the writing of the languages of Daghestan, and this process of which began in the 16th-17th centuries. The Avar language, in which rich literature of both historical, artistic, and religious content was written and printed, was no exception. The rise of Avar literature on Ajami alphabet began in the18th century. In this regard, the active creative activity of Dibir-Qadi of Khunzakh on the reform and dissemination of the Avar alphabet should be noted. The alphabet was refined from time to time, although it functioned in its original form until the early 1920s. In 1884, the first Avar printed book on Ajami alphabet was published in Istanbul, and then book publishing began in Daghestan; books in Avar were printed mainly in Temir-Khan-Shura in the printing house of Muhammad-Mirza Mavrayev.
