immediate and long-term effects which it could cause on a woman’s physical,
psychological and sexual health. Because it’s complexity, a multidisciplinary team
should give assistance to the female victim according to the recommendation of the
Health Ministry. While attending a woman who has been sexually assaulted, the
nursing staff performs the first care. This work reported the sexual violence against
women and its causes; it described briefly the nurse’s acting facing the care to women
victims of sexual violence in Brazil. The research was produced by literature
(articles/magazines/materials on the theme from a range of sources), such as:
Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SCIELO), Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), and
books and newspapers from Faculdade de São Paulo (FASP) libraries among others.

sexual. It treated the meaning in taking care, shown from the technical dimension,
reception, reflection on the feminine condition of the subject who cares, and on the
care for the female victim of sexual violence and its facticity. The research showed

of the technical procedures; by the method of welcoming through touch, listening,
silence. It considered that nursing care is based on technical tasks, associated with
the subjectivity of reception and what is done unexpected.
