Hi, all, trying to get this posted in the same places I announced Aly's passing. There's a brand-new Collection at AO3 called "For Aly". It was created in response to some of her friends wanting a place to post stories or art in her memory. It's the same idea as the Secret Santa In Memorium Collection ainm created to remember Sheila/Bluewolf and other dear fans we've lost over the years. It's open to anyone and can contain fanfic or fanart (old or new), meta comments, or whatever you think Aly would have enjoyed. Just read the profile, which explains its purpose in more detail and has FAQ.

I've posted a story of what we did this past weekend at the Escapade Convention to honor her.

Also, tomorrow, 2/28/26, at our The Sentinel Chat, we'll be discussing one of Aly's stories, Polar Ice Caps. Here's an announcement link that explains where and when to find TS Chat and how the fic club works:

Unfortunately, we've lost another dear fandom friend. Alyjude, aka alyburns, aka alyjude_sideburns in AO3, passed away from natural causes on December 30.  Like Bluewolf, she was larger than life in The Sentinel fandom. Not only did she write a LOT of stories, but she ran the Moonridge Auction for years to raise funds for one of Garett Maggart's favorite charities.

She also contributed to many challenges, including our very own Secret Santa.  In fact, one of the last things she did was write a story for the Wreath Drabble Day.  I remember talking to her about it. Being inspired to write again made her so happy and she was tickled when she got it posted. With that, she left a legacy of stories, artwork (she made the above icon) and good works for the fandoms (TS and Stargate) she loved.

Aly was strong in spirit but her body became more fragile over the years. She'd had a trip to the hospital in December and still hadn't fully recovered by Christmas. Her spirit is now free to soar.  Rest in peace, my friend, and thank you.

UPDATE: For the many friends who asked, Aly's beloved cat Cluny is safe and adopted by an animal lover friend of Betsy's (from Moonridge fame).

To all you creative people, this is a reminder that there are two TS Archive Collections, if you want to add your stories to them. You may find you get exposure to other audiences when you add your works to other collections. It can't hurt!

First is 852 Prospect Collection. 852 is a slash-dedicated archive that came about in the early days of the fandom because there was no friendly place to post slash.  Does it have to be rated Mature or Explicit to be part of the Collection? No. There doesn't even have to be a kiss. It's the relationship that's important: M/M or F/F.  Exception: NO Real Person Slash.  You can go to the archive to read more in its Profile.  If you have questions, contact me. I'm the Collection Archivist! ;^D
https://archiveofourown.org/collections/852_prospect_archive

Second is Artifact Storage Room 3 Collection. Per the submission rules: Artifact Storage Room 3 is a fan fiction archive for the television show, 'The Sentinel'. Therefore fiction posted here should be about the characters in the show and not the actors. Read the Collection Profile for more detail.
https://archiveofourown.org/collections/artifactstorageroom3

To add either or both, edit your work and scroll down to "Associations" the to "Post to Collections". Start to type the name of the collection (example type 852 or artifact) and you should see AOe will autofill the rest. Save and you should see your work added to the collections. Note that ASR3 is unmoderated, so you should see your work right away. 852 is a moderated  collection, so you may have a short wait until it's added.

Hopefull this is clear. If not, contact me!  Thank you to everyone who in any way made TSSS the success it is and looking forward to more fic in the future. Cheers and have a safe 2026.

OK, it took me past the new year (Happy New Year!!!), but not too far past — and I even posted something myself! :-)

I figured no one else was clamoring to post, but if someone did have something to add, just let me know and I can open it again.

So... now it's all over but for the hand-over, which I have honestly not been thinking at all about, but which I will ponder and probably email about over the next few days. :-)

It's been wonderful — and horrible, sometimes, not gonna lie :-) — to do this event for you all for so long.  I think we've all learned things, sometimes because I forced us to, sometimes not :-), and evolved over the years but always stood for inclusivity and positivity, and I'm proud of that.

I started this after the first attempt wasn't continued... I'm not even sure why I volunteered, but I know why I kept at it (and it's not just because I'm a control freak who can't ever let anything go ;-)) — it's because December is hard for a lot of people in a lot of different ways, and it's seemed like this has made people's Decembers better.  (And not just Patt, even if she's been the most vocal about it. ;-))

Though it's time for me to step back, I'm hoping that this event, in whatever form it takes in the future, will continue to make December better for years to come.

Thank you all!

Wow... Merry Christmas, Thrilling Thursday, and/or whatever applies to you! :-)  Lucky for you I am much too busy tonight to get all maudlin over the end of an era, and will instead just say that it's the end of the Exchange and the Drabble Days for 2025 but the start of the Extravaganza!

Thanks so much to everyone who contributed — every item, from a long Exchange story to clicking the Kudos button, is very much appreciated, and important to making this adventure a success!

The Exchange & Drabble Days are now revealed and de-anonymized (I hope — comment here if I missed any, since they are still showing as "Anonymous" in the list of subcollections even though when you open them they are not — makes it hard to check!), and the Extravaganza is revealed.  If inspiration strikes you — or if you haven't had the time to finish the ideas that you've had but have a little downtime coming up — feel free to add your work to the Extravaganza over the coming week.  It will be immediately viewable but willl stay anonymous until I de-anonymize it all closer to New Year's.

ainm wrote: So, in 2006 the prompt was "Silent Night," but I'm pretty sure I was thinking of it as Christmas Eve even then. We did "Christmas Eve" in 2007, and if we ever went back, I'd rather just pretend we didn't, so I'm not going to check. ;-)

I say: Wow, we've come to our last drabble day. Thanks to the mods, the creators, the readers, the cheerleaders and everyone in our fandom for coming together for such an awesome challenge this year. Wishing you all healthy and happy holidays, whichever ones you celebrate and a safe and happy 2026. Remember, we also have the Extravaganza coming up!

Now, on to the Christmas Eve creations. Don't forget to leave out the goodies for Santa and the reindeer.

I say: fa-la-la-la-la, let's see what's revealed!

I say whether you're celebrating the longest or shortest night, it's perfect to see how the guys are doing.
