Urgh. I didn't realise I hadn't been here since The Last Roswell Day. Where does the time go? I guess that one hit me harder than I had thought, because OF COURSE, I started crying again when I read it.

Welp. Not too much going on here - I've been sick since well before then anyway. Lyme disease (or whatever this is) is a real b*****. Fortunately, it's winter and not much going on anyway with Life in General. I can still manage to stagger in and out with the horses, but that's about it. Lots of knitting, thank goodness.
I had intended to do some writing, but I can't seem to muster up the energy to do that, even though I know I have stories to be told still. I haven't even been reading much fanfic (the horror!)

I hope eventually, we'll get a diagnosis and figure out what's wrong with me, but so far, no dice. And so it goes.

How are all you poor remnants of garden flowers that are left in LJ-land?

Almost all the snow is gone now, leaving the ground incredibly saturated. It's squishy and squelchy underfoot everywhere. My ring is almost-but-not-quite dry enough to ride in, but it's supposed to rain and inch or so again tomorrow. Sigh.

the good news is, this means I can knit at least. I lost a lot of knitting time when I had to shovel snow for a couple of hours every day, but I'm getting back on track now. Behold my latest socks - Stone Rivers, made for a friend in New Zealand.

Might as well be productive, since there's certainly no riding to be done ATM. sigh.

I made these socks for a little girl (although they were a couple of days late for Christmas - oops) and her mom just sent me this pic. Isn't this too cute? Oh, and there are socks there somewhere.

These are my latest, made for a friend out of Sanguine Gryphon Eidos in the Ion colourway.

Now I can start worrying about fic again.

The fic is progressing. I have a dandy (I think) beginning and a reasonable ending. Now if I could just all the players to do what I want in between. That's always the tricky part, innit?
Whenever I feel too much like tipping the lot into the nearest bin, I knit socks. Not that socks are much more soothing, but it's a change of pace, anyway.

I've lived here for 15 years, in this area for(URK!) 50(!). I can remember many years when I was able to ride and show all through the winter. A few years ago, it was 70 on New Year's Day. OK, that was unusual, but still...

So, more snow and freezing rain for the remainder of this week. I haven't been on a horse for more than a month. Right now, I couldn't get the trailer out to go to an indoor. Grrr.

BUT, if I can't ride, I can at least knit socks. Last year, I made 12 pairs - one a month. I'm not going to commit to that this year, because I hope I won't have the time. However, behold my February socks, of which I am inordinately proud.

I got my ACDHolmesfest assignment and I'm stoked mostly terrified, but hey, stoked! Does that still count? Sure, let's count it.
Today I had a great ride on Ariel. Someday, someone will get a picture of me on her, since I have exactly zero pics of me. Lots of pics of others (good and bad), but none of me.
I got several more rows of the September Sock done without any mistakes. Moving right along, ahead of schedule. Yay, me.

I finished my July socks with a whole day to spare. That's a first for me. Usually, I'm frantically binding off at 11pm on the last day. Have a look!
