I finally got around to see the 2016 movie “The Love Witch” on DVD. Bit of a Hitchcock vibe, bit of Hammer in there. Beautiful, but very very creepy. Nobody is going to forget having seen this one. Some good extras as well, including the dance audition tape that actress Samantha Robinson did (I have no problem thinking that she got the job on the spot). This really could/should have been the beginning of a franchise. Full score on the old Cool-o-meter in my book.

(My shot of said DVD on top of an ongoing poster to be framed project)

Some good stuff in Metal Hammer 410 (Babymetal, Castle Rat, Ghost, Avatar, Sabaton) and Classic Rock 351 (Rainbow, Tailgunner, Metallica, Suzi Quatro, Elvis). However, I could have lived without the blatant politics in the latter (always left leaning, always cherry picking subjects). How about an article about some of the outrageous ticket prices that, incidentally, some of these political artists go with? No? I was hoping for the Metal Hammer Castle Rat cover, but no such luck in these parts.

(My shots of some of the good stuff in said publications, and I still want you to support them)

We have an Elvis film titled “Epic – Elvis Presley In Concert” doing the rounds. Took this snapshot of a poster outside a cinema in Östersund (Jämtland County) the other day. Hopefully, this will pop up on DVD/Blu-ray as well. The legacy lives on.

Every artist has recorded a cover song or two in their career, and sometimes they just nail it to the point that it takes off as a rocket. Here are 10 such songs, listed in no particular order (they are all great). Of these, Nemophila and Hagane is to be found on YouTube only (so far). Here we go…

Swedish crosswords magazine Nostalgi-kryss, issue 2 2026 (1950s issue). I like the retro specials.

Got this limited edition (1,000 copies) reissue of the Japanese Elvis Christmas album on import from France. I always had a soft spot for this recording and I like this rare edition for sure.

Bought the Vintage Rock Elvis At 90 tribute magazine and it is pretty good. I see Elvis magazines pop up all the time, the legacy is so strong. Well deserved I would say. The first record I ever got was a single with the old hit “Hound Dog” that my mother bought for me in the late 1960s. I still remember it. I recall looking at a wall of singles and I pointed at the Elvis one. Still love that song, played it to death. Good times.

(My shot of said magazine, now go and buy it!)

Soundtracks are fun to collect and this one, “Bubba Ho-Tep” popped up in June. Just discovered it. The film came out in 2002. Elvis is living out his life in peace when a mummy turns up and disturbs said peace in a big way. Bruce Campbell stars as Elvis in this horror comedy which you may want to check out have you not seen it. Cool to see an album. Yellowish Vinyl.

Swedish crosswords magazine Nostalgi Kryss (published by newspaper Aftonbladet) has a nice music edition out. 100 pages. I like to engage in a good crosswords magazine every now and then.
