Library Storytimes
Library Storytime is a time to sing, listen, learn, and play! Our story times are structured by age group to help support specific critical early literacy and learning stages in your child’s life. However, siblings are always welcome to join in the fun!
Babytime
Join us for Baby Storytime! This nurturing and gentle program is designed for babies from 0-12 months and their caregivers. Join us for an enriching experience that helps lay the foundation for a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Baby Storytime is a special time for you and your baby to bond through shared experiences and build early literacy foundations. We look forward to welcoming you and your little one to the Library! Older siblings are welcome to bring a favorite stuffed animal or doll to sing and dance along!
Toddler Time
Join us for Toddler Storytime! This engaging and interactive program is specially designed for children aged 12 months – 3 years and their caregivers. Join us for a fun-filled session that includes stories, songs, rhymes, and movement activities tailored to the developmental needs of toddlers.
Our Toddler Storytime is the perfect opportunity for you and your child to bond while nurturing their early literacy skills. We look forward to seeing you and your toddler at the Library!
Preschool Storytime
Join us for an exciting Preschool Storytime! This engaging and educational program is designed for children aged 3-5 years old and their caregivers. Preschool Storytime is a fun-filled experience that combines stories, songs, rhymes, and interactive activities to nurture a love of reading and learning in young children.
Preschool Storytime is a wonderful opportunity for your child to grow and learn in a supportive and interactive environment. We look forward to seeing you and your preschooler at the Library for a magical storytime experience!
Family Place Library
The Tye Preston Memorial Library is proud to be a Family Place Library! The goal of Family Place Libraries ™ is to help Public Libraries become vital centers for early learning, supporting family and caregivers, and developing a sense of community to ensure that children get the best start in life.
Core Components of our Family Place Library:
Play, Learn, Grow
Join us for our five-week series for toddlers and their parents/caregivers, this fun, informal, play-based program provides a rich environment of toys, books, and art activities. Families have the opportunity to spend time together, make new friends, and talk one-on-one with a different community resource professional each week. Visit our calendar to learn details about our next 5-week series. This program is free and open to the public. Activities are geared toward children ages 0-3. Siblings welcome!

Take a Walk, Read a Book, Share an Adventure!
The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. This StoryWalk® was funded by the Friends of the Tye Preston Memorial Library in conjunction with donations from The Big Give 2020. Our StoryWalk® starts at the top of TPML’s parking lot and ends at the outdoor play area. Be sure to sign our guest book!

School-Age Programs
Growing up Wild
Join us as we study the wild world around us through books, activities, and crafts! Whether we’re scoping out animal tracks, going on a nature walk, or studying wiggly worms, we’re getting little ones excited about exploring nature! For ages 3-6
Family Fun
Family fun is fun for all ages! Whether we’re creating a craft, learning about a different culture, doing an experiment, or building a LEGO tower, we’re doing it together! All materials are provided, so some registration may be required, but Library programs are free and open to the public. Check our calendar for more details on our upcoming Family Fun events!
Storytails
Children who read aloud to therapy animals show dramatic improvement in their reading skills and confidence because the animals provide a safe space for beginning or struggling readers.
Storytails provides the space for children to pick out a book and come read with Lucy the Therapy Poodle and her handler Nan Borden who are registered through Therapy Animals of San Antonio. This program is geared towards children, ages 5-8 and learning to read.
