REL Limber and Cannon Yellow-Black HP

I had posted a REL limber and cannon a couple of years ago nearly identical to this one - and then I sold it! That was stupid because at the time it didn't occur to me that these REL limbers are 60mm and would go great with my MPC and other 60mm American Civil War or Old West setup's! But it is what it is and past mistakes are being corrected.

This REL limber and cannon is different in a couple of respects from that which was posted yesterday. This one came with two different driver/rider figures and it appears that this had a firing cannon. The barrel on yesterday's was a solid casting while this one is hollow and appears to have held a firing mechanism at one time. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

My set came with a crate but I'm not sure if it's REL. Anywho it makes a nice ammo crate.

The two figures are separate poses. One is a driver and the other is riding shotgun.
REL figures are notoriously bad and their sculpts are sophomoric at best. Fortunately there are a host of manufacturers with decent sculpts to help flesh out a Western or ACW scene, however I would still use these for nostalgia's sake.

REL Limber and Cannon - Blue HP

REL made some interesting toys back in the day. This limber and cannon, which date from the mid-to-late 1950s, was a great little toy which promised Junior some fun play time but it is a little unusual for its time - the cannon is non-firing! At a time in our history when just about every toy gun and cannon were meant to be fired, this cannon has a one-piece solid barrel. There would have been one or two 60mm rider figures as well, but this is how I received mine. Another unusual feature is the blue horses. You saw how many vintage horses I ended up with after diving into my hoard and there isn't one blue horse in the lot! It makes me wonder if REL made a gray set to compliment the blue because this was made at a time when toy companies were ramping up for the American Civil War Centennial and pumping out Blue-&Gray toys around every corner. The entire set-up measures 11 1/2" (29.21cm) L overall from the horses snout to the end of the cannon. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

REL Cannon and Limber and Figures - Pt 3 - Cannon

As promised, here's the photo essay for the REL cannon which measures 5 1/4" (13.33cm) L x 3 1/4" (8.25cm) W. I s'pose REL made these in other colors as well, but as I was never able to drum up enough interest in these I've never investigated them more. So okay - Enjoy! Opa Fritz

REL Cannon and Limber and Figures - Pt 2 - Limber

Totally forgot I was gonna post separate photo essays of the REL limber and then the cannon. Okie dokie, well here's the photo essay for the limber sans driver and cannon. The limber is 5 1/2" (13.97cm) L X 3 1/4" (8.25cm) W.  Enjoy!
