TRAIN TIME: Dinky No. 781 Petrol Station

I was hoping to post this earlier, having ordered it back in February, but it just came in the other day!  Dinky's No. 781 Petrol Station is a simple affair with a base, two removable pumps, and a removable Esso sign. It doesn't come with an associated office or building repair shed of any kind - you're left to your own devices for those. Atlas makes a repo version in a nice bright white color, but I tend to favor this more weather beaten version. When work resumes on my little Hornby layout this will hopefully find a home. Enjoy! TRAIN TIME: Meccano Dinky Toys Yellow Oil Bin Set 49 Service Station Accessory

Goin' through my photos and came across this nifty little accessory useable for petrol stations: the Meccano Dinky Toys Yellow Bin Set 49 Service Station Accessory in yellow. It's diecast metal with a stamped steel opening lid and the interior details are painted. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

TRAIN TIME: Dinky Metal RR Signs

Okay, this was one of those deals where I wanted some street signs on the layout, trolled fleaBay, came across these diecast signs, and then ordered them! Works for me LOL I have no clue if these comprise a complete set from Dinky or not, however they fit the bill quite nicely for my little layout so I'm happy with them. I'm pretty much winding down the accessories posts for my layout - I do have more but just haven't photographed them yet. Until I do, I think maybe I'll start in with engines and rolling stock next - or? Or whatever floats my boat :-) Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Matchbox / Dinky 1/43 Scale Diecast 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback 2x2

Today we have a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback 2x2 from Matchbox / Dinky from 1990 in 1/43 scale. This was one of those 'what was I thinking?' buys. I love the 1965 1/2-'66'-67 Mustang body style, hardtop as well as covertible, but I was never a big fan of the fastback look - at least not for this particular auto. Anywho, this is one of the cars I pulled that's goin' on the chopping block in my feeble attempt at paring down the collection. It measures 4 1/8" (10.47cm) L x 1 5/8" (4.12cm) W x 1 1/8" (2.85cm)H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Dinky 1/43 Scale Diecast 1948 Tucker 48 aka Tucker Torpedo

About twelve years ago or so, in a fit of abject stupidity, I got rid of most of the boxes for the diecast vehicles I had at the time. Since then they've been sitting in box and not really being used. I decided to sell off a bunch and keep some around for the train layout but before they hit the chopping block I'll take pics and post them.

Some of the cars, like this Tucker Torpedo, have an interesting story. Built under the guidance of Preston Tucker by the Tucker Corporation only 51 of these innovative cars were built in 1948 before the Tucker Corporation succumbed to adverse plublicity and a big lawsuit. The car was actually designated The Tucker 48 by the Tucker Corporation but is commonly called The Tucker Torpedo. This version, made by Matchbox/Dinky, measures 5" (12.7cm) L x 1 3/4" (4.44cm) W x 1 1/2" (3.81cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
