Help!

The moving company I had scheduled to move my stuff from Montreal to Toronto this coming Monday is being ridiculous and changing my move date to Wednesday. I have a job interview in Toronto on Thursday and I'm not sure I'll be able to get there in time, so I'm looking to change moving companies last minute.

Does anyone know of any reputable, last minute moving companies that might be able to pick up my stuff in Montreal on Monday or Tuesday, and safely get it back to Toronto (doesn't have to be in Toronto the next day or anything)?

Thanks!

Personal recommendations on moving services from Toronto-Ottawa

I am moving from Toronto to Ottawa in mid-April and need to hire a reliable moving truck for same-day service. However, I'm not that proficient in term of acquiring a moving truck as I always used to hire friends or band members to do the moving for me within the city. Does anyone here have some personal recommendations on good moving service?

Small moves/furniture pick ups

I have no car and the car I do have access to is just a sedan. But I've seen some decent furniture on Craiglist/Kijiji but they require pick up. Or I may be buying stuff from Ikea and looking to pay less than their $50-60 delivery charge.

What kind of services do you recommend that is not sketchy (heard horror stories about movers/men with vans) and fairly cheap?

I saw this thread:
http://toronto.livejournal.com/9807780.html#comments
and this http://toronto.livejournal.com/9385916.html

I hear about this Rocket Robin (which I assume is this guy? http://toronto.canadianlisted.com/labor-moving/2600-helped-rocket-robin-delivery-416-716-5750-toronto_2269243.html ). Is the consensus that he is the best option for one-off moves of furniture items?

Small moving jobs

I'm probably about to invest in some secondhand furniture, but I have neither a vehicle nor access to any friends' vehicles at the moment nor a license advanced enough to enable me to rent anything useful, and hauling large bookshelves around on the TTC doesn't sound particularly advisable. Last time I did something like this I ended up enlisting the help of a Beck taxi-van, but I don't think that would cut it this time around. Would anyone happen to have any recommendations in the way of moving-companies that can handle smaller jobs, or something along those lines?

Thanks!

Fridge Mover/ delivery

I am looking for recommendations for buying a new fridge used or refurbished. I have looked on kijiji but would need someone that can pick up the fridge and move it to my place.

If you have a recommendation for either a place to get a fridge cheaply or someone that can do the delivery please post here.

I am not looking for anything fancy in the fridge just need to use it for about 6 months, so I don't want to get a new fridge.
Thanks

Moving Companies

Hi Everyone,

Looking for recommendations on moving companies. I'm moving within the city and don't have a huge amount of stuff. Just want to make sure I hire people who will be careful with my stuff and not cause any damage in the elevator.

Thanks in advance!!

Mover recommendations

Hi, so I was supposed to be moving this weekend but my idiot friend with the van bailed on me. I won't bore you with my plans for vengeance against him, but I'm calling around right now for movers for tomorrow. In the meantime, does anyone have any recommendations out there for movers? It's a 2 bedroom apartment and I don't have a lot of furniture so it's mostly just boxes and crap. Thanks in advance, toronto.

ETA: Well I've already got movers lined up, I just said "Fuck it " and picked someone (too bad Zaid was booked up, I liked him from before). Still, I will definitely be moving again within a year so I wouldn't mind suggestions in advance and of course maybe there are lurkers out there who could use the advice too.

Parking and Heavy Lifting

I've got two completely separate requests.

One, I'm looking for parking at Yonge and Eglinton. As close to the actual intersection as possible. The Green P on Holly is on a waiting list until 2012, and Craigslist isn't really showing anything nearby. Any suggestions welcome!

Two, I need to find a hauling company that has one of those flatbed trucks with the forklift on the back. I have a 2500lb item on a pallet that needs to be moved from Stoufville to Main and Danforth, and none of the heavy equipment hauling companies seem to handle anything under 10,000lbs.

moving van/helper

Hello Toronto!

I am moving next weekend and do not drive. Usually I have a friend help me out and rent a Uhaul, but as this move is fairly unexpected/rushed it is too last minute to coordinate this.

A friend of mine suggested a guy with a van that she had used in the past who charged $40/hr to drive his own van and assist with the move. Unfortunately when I contacted him, he told me he no longer had the van and suggested I find someone similar on Craigslist.

So I'm hoping someone here has used a specific 'guy with a van' so that I don't have to pick one at random from Craigslist. If you have a recommendation of someone who is reliable, etc, please let me know!

If it matters at all, I'm moving from Pape/Danforth to Lansdowne/Bloor.

Thanks in advance!

Piano mover?

i am finally leaving the nest, and my parents want me to take the piano with me. can anyone recommend an awesome piano mover? it'll only have to be moved ~10km.

(i will likely be renting a van to move the rest of my crap, but don't want to break myself, my friends/family or the piano.)

thanks!

Moving. Presently.

Okay so heres the deal. I have 8 boxes waiting for me at the Greyhound bus depot. What would be the cheapest, and fastest way to get them to my apartment (in the junction?)

It's very short notice but my stuff wasn't supposed to be sent until next week. D:

Gracias!

Rent-A-Son

Has anyone here used Rent-A-Son, specifically for moving help? was it a positive experience? at $25/hr, sounds almost too good to be true. Thanks for any insight!

Piano movers?

Hello wise ones,

I'm looking to move an upright piano and I need some muscle. Can anyone recommend a company or warn me away from anyone? I don't want to spend a small fortune, but I don't want the piano buggered up by careless goons. Also, does anyone know if it's possible to get a rate that includes moving AND tuning?

Thank you to any and all who can give me some input!

Looking For Movers

Hi folks,

The only post I found that was helpful was from two years ago:
http://community.livejournal.com/toronto/5819526.html

So.. I'm looking for a more up to date set of information.
Can anyone recommend good, professional, and insured movers?

I've got to move from up near Vic Park and Eglinton down to Harbourfront.

I know that people like "Your Friend With A Cube Van" but are there any others?
I know Boris and Yanush are out there too but I don't plan on hiring them (Best Price Movers) ;)

Any and all recommendations would be welcome.

Thank you,
nex

Tender Touch Moving Company

This is a review of Tender Touch Movers, for the sake of other people looking for a moving company. We used them this past Wednesday for a short move from King/Dufferin to the Entertainment district -- a 1 bedroom apt minus sofas and coffee tables.

When I called for a quote they seemed very professional and provided a reasonable estimate of $332. Because I couldn't get an elevator in our new building booked for the morning, she said they'd have to arrive within a window of 1 to 2pm. That was fine, I told her we had the elevator from 2 to 5pm and she said that should be plenty of time. . .
