How to Create Your First Pretty Tooltip in Elementor (Beginner’s Guide)

A simple, friendly guide for new WordPress users

If you are new to WordPress or Elementor, tooltips may sound technical — but they are actually one of the easiest and most useful features you can add to your website.

In this guide, you will learn:

What an Elementor tooltip is

Why tooltips make your website better

How to create your first beautiful tooltip step by step

Best practices for clean, user-friendly tooltips

No coding required. No experience needed.

1. What Is a Tooltip?

A tooltip is a small message that appears when a visitor:

Hovers over text

Moves the mouse over an icon

Focuses on a highlighted word

Instead of showing everything at once, a tooltip:

Keeps your page clean

Shows extra information only when needed

Helps visitors understand your content faster

Common examples:

Explaining a feature in a pricing table

Giving help text in a form

Clarifying technical words

Adding notes without clutter

2. Why Use Tooltips in Elementor?

Tooltips are especially useful when building pages with Elementor because they:

✅ Reduce visual clutter

✅ Improve readability

✅ Help beginners understand content

✅ Increase engagement

✅ Look professional and modern

Instead of long paragraphs, you let users discover information naturally.

3. What You Need Before Starting

Before creating your first tooltip, make sure:

✔ WordPress is installed

✔ Elementor (Free version) is installed and activated

✔ Your Tooltip widget or plugin is enabled

That’s it — no extra tools required.

4. Open Elementor Editor

Go to WordPress Admin

Open Pages → Add New (or edit an existing page)

Click Edit with Elementor

You will now see:

Left panel: Elementor widgets

Right side: Your page preview

5. Add the Tooltip Widget to Your Page

In the Elementor widget panel (left side)

Search for “Tooltip”

Drag the Tooltip widget onto your page

You now have your first tooltip element 🎉

As you can see, in the Elementor widgets panel, we added a new “Tooltip” Widget for wordpress tooltip users 🙂

6. Create Your First Tooltip (Step by Step)

Step 1: Set the Trigger Text

Trigger text is the text users hover over.

Example:

What is this?

This text will appear directly on your page.

Step 2: Add Tooltip Content

Tooltip content is the message shown on hover.

Example:

This tooltip provides extra information without cluttering the page.

edit tooltips keyword and content in elementor widget in Elementor page builder

edit tooltips keyword and content in elementor widget in Elementor page builder

You can use it to explain features, clarify terms, or guide visitors.
Perfect for pricing tables, forms, and product descriptions.

Keep it:

Short

Friendly

Easy to read

Step 3: Choose an Icon (Optional)

If your widget supports icons, a good beginner choice is:

Help icon

Info icon

These icons visually tell users:

“Hover here for more information”

7. Preview Your Tooltip

Hover your mouse over the trigger text

The tooltip appears instantly

Move the mouse away — the tooltip disappears

This is exactly how visitors will experience it.

8. Tips for Creating Pretty Tooltips

✔ Keep text short

Tooltips work best with 2–4 lines of text.

✔ Use friendly language

Avoid technical terms when possible.

✔ Don’t overload information

If content is long, use a normal section instead.

✔ Use tooltips only where helpful

Good places:

Pricing tables

Forms

Feature explanations

Documentation pages

9. Example Tooltip for Beginners (Recommended)

Trigger Text

What is this?

Tooltip Content

This tooltip provides extra information without cluttering the page.

You can use it to explain features, clarify terms, or guide visitors.
Perfect for pricing tables, forms, and product descriptions.

This example is:

Clear

Friendly

Suitable for any website

Great for demos and screenshots

10. Common Beginner Mistakes (Avoid These)

❌ Using very long paragraphs

❌ Explaining everything in one tooltip

❌ Hiding critical information inside tooltips

❌ Using too many tooltips on one page

Tooltips should help, not distract.

11. When Should You Use Tooltips?

Tooltips are perfect when:

You want to explain something optional

Not all users need the information

You want a cleaner design

If the information is essential for everyone, show it directly on the page.

Explore Tooltips Features

12. You’re Done 🎉

You have successfully:

Created your first Elementor tooltip

Improved your page clarity

Made your content more user-friendly

Once you are comfortable, you can explore:

Media tooltips (image, audio, video)

Tooltips inside pricing tables

Tooltips for forms and documentation

Custom styles and animations

Final Tip for New WordPress Users

Start simple.
One good tooltip is better than ten confusing ones.

If visitors understand your page faster — you’re doing it right 😊

🚀 WordPress Tooltips Plugin Update: Full Gutenberg & Polylang Compatibility for Widgets — WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus 36.2.8

We’re excited to introduce an important update to the WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus Plugin.  36.2.8, focused on modern WordPress compatibility, multilingual stability, and future-proof performance.

This release refactors the internal widget system to be 100% block-safe, fully compatible with Gutenberg, Polylang (including Polylang Pro), and modern themes such as Salient.

How to add a Tooltip Widget (from Gutenberg’s Legacy Widget) into a WordPress Sidebar

This step-by-step guide will walk you through using a Tooltip widget that lives in the Gutenberg legacy widgets.  The Legacy Widget approach lets you reuse an older, familiar widget inside the new block-based widget editor.

Prerequisites (what you’ll need)
– WordPress that supports block-based widgets (the new Block Widgets Editor). If you’re using a recent WordPress version, you’ll see a Block Editor in Appearance > Widgets.
– A Tooltip widget provided by wordpress tooltips plugin. You’ll typically need the WordPress Tooltip plugin that adds a widget to your Appearance > Widgets area (for example, Tooltips for WordPress or similar plugins). Install and activate the plugin, then confirm you have a Tooltip widget available in the widget list.
– A theme with a sidebar area (most themes include a Sidebar widget area). If you’re unsure, look for a “Sidebar” area under Appearance > Widgets.

Step-by-step guide

1) Install and activate our WordPress Tooltip plugin
– In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New.
– Upload and Install and activate it.
– Confirm that the Tooltip widget appears when you go to Appearance > Widgets. This is the widget you’ll place in your sidebar.

2) Open the Block-based Widgets Editor for your sidebar
– In the WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Widgets. You’ll see your theme’s widget areas (like Sidebar, Footer, etc.). Click the Sidebar area you want to edit. This is where we’ll place the tooltip. ([wordpress.org](https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/block-based-widgets-editor/))

3) Add a Legacy Widget block to the sidebar
– In the selected widget area (e.g., Sidebar), click the + block inserter to add a new block.

– Search for and select the “Legacy Widget” block. This block lets you insert a classic (pre-block) widget into the block-based widget editor.

4) Choose your Tooltip widget inside the Legacy Widget block
– After adding the Legacy Widget block, you’ll see a dropdown or selector inside the block’s settings to pick

Then, you can insert  tooltips widget into the sidebar

🔍 Why This Change Was Necessary

WordPress has changed a lot in recent years.

Widgets are now block-based

Content is rendered through Gutenberg’s block engine

Multilingual plugins like Polylang rely on block-level rendering to show the correct language

However, older widget APIs—especially wp_register_sidebar_widget()—were designed long before Gutenberg existed.
The result?

In some setups, especially multilingual sites, this could cause:

❌ Multiple languages appearing at the same time

❌ Footer or sidebar widgets ignoring the language switcher

❌ Unexpected duplication of content

❌ Conflicts with block-based themes

It was a limitation of legacy widget architecture.
✅ What We Changed in This Version
1️⃣ Migrated to the Modern Widget API

We replaced the legacy widget registration system with the modern WP_Widget class, which is:

Fully supported by WordPress

Compatible with block-based widgets

Safely handled by Gutenberg

This ensures WordPress can correctly process widget output using its native rendering pipeline.
2️⃣ Block-Safe Rendering (No Forced Content Processing)

The widget now:

Outputs content only

Does not manipulate or rewrite block markup

Does not bypass block rendering

This allows Gutenberg and Polylang to do their job correctly.
3️⃣ Polylang-Friendly by Design

Polylang determines which content to display at block render time.

With the new architecture:

Language-specific blocks (pll_lang=”de”, pll_lang=”fr”, etc.) are respected

Only the correct language content is rendered

The language switcher behaves exactly as expected

🌍 Real-World Example
Before (Old Behavior)

A multilingual site with a footer widget like this:

German contact info block

French contact info block

When WordPress Tooltips plugin was active:

❌ Both German and French content appeared together

❌ Language switcher stopped working in the footer

After (New Behavior)

With the updated widget system:

🇩🇪 German visitors see only German contact info

🇫🇷 French visitors see only French contact info

✅ Language switcher works correctly

✅ No duplicated content

✅ Clean, predictable output

🧩 Common Use Cases That Benefit

This update is especially helpful if you are running:

🌐 Multilingual websites (Polylang / Polylang Pro)

🧱 Block-based themes (Salient, Astra, GeneratePress, etc.)

🦶 Footer widgets with language-specific content

📚 Tooltip-heavy knowledge bases or documentation sites

🛍️ Multilingual WooCommerce stores with tooltips in sidebars

🔐 Future-Proof & Stable

This refactor ensures the Tooltips plugin:

✔ Works with current WordPress versions

✔ Is ready for future Gutenberg updates

✔ Avoids deprecated APIs

✔ Plays nicely with other plugins

✔ Delivers consistent output across themes

🧠 In Simple Terms

Widgets should display content — not rewrite it.

By letting WordPress and Gutenberg handle rendering, we ensure:

Better compatibility

Better performance

Better multilingual support

🎉 Summary

✔ Modern widget architecture
✔ Full Gutenberg compatibility
✔ Polylang & Polylang Pro friendly
✔ No duplicated content
✔ Cleaner, safer, future-ready code

This update is a big step forward in making WordPress Tooltips more reliable for modern WordPress sites.

Completely redesigned a sleek WordPress tooltips style settings panel –WordPress Tooltips Plugin 36.1.8

WordPress Tooltips Plugin 36.1.8 — Revamped the WordPress tooltips style settings panel with a fresh and sleek new design

Hello wonderful WordPress Tooltips Plugin users! I hope this message brings a smile to your day and that you’re sharing lots of happy moments with those you hold dear.  We received a fantastic suggestion from one of our wonderful WordPress tooltip users. They expressed a desire for us to redesign the Tooltips Style Settings Panel by reorganizing all the settings into functional categories that better match user habits. 🙂

Our WordPress tooltips plugin developer took a close look at the user’s ticket, and we wholeheartedly share their perspective 🙂

Yes, in last 16 years, we just followed WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus Plugin user’s feedback to  add new functions into our wordpress tooltips plugin, so the currently order of tooltip style settings is followed the time of the user’s suggestion

Absolutely! Over the past 16 years, we’ve consistently listened to our WordPress tooltip users’ feedback to add new features to our plugin. As a result, the current arrangement of the tooltip style settings reflects the timeline of our users’ suggestions. So, with the addition of over 50 settings options, the organization has become a bit cluttered and doesn’t quite align with our users’ habits. We’ve completely revamped the WordPress tooltips style settings panel to improve the organization of all settings options. This redesign aims to help new users navigate and utilize the tooltip settings more easily and efficiently, it looks like this:

Tooltips Style Settings -- WordPress Tooltips 36.1.8

Tooltips Style Settings — WordPress Tooltips 36.1.8

As you can see in the screenshot, we’ve reorganized all the settings options to better align with our users’ habits. We’ve also included category names for the tooltip style settings, complete with lovely dashicons that come standard with WordPress. This way, we’ve created a clean, friendly, and visually appealing tooltip settings panel for all our WordPress tooltip users 🙂

As you can see in the screenshot, we have re-organized all settings options, to match align with our users’ habits better. Also , we have added tooltip style settings category name with the pretty dashicons – which included in wordpress by default, by this way, we offer a clean, friendly, and beautiful tooltip settings panel for wordpress tooltip users 🙂

Thanks a lot of the great suggestion report, which is greatly appreciated by our WordPress tooltip plugin developer. As a token of our gratitude, our wordpress tooltip developer offered you a license for the AI Smart Content Links plugin (https://tooltips.org/product/smart-content-links/), which will enhance your website’s content and uplift the user experience with the powerful Smart Content Links plugin. But the order on the page is wrong….

It starts with everyting containing a 1 (also 1n), then 2… and so on.

Our developer checked your feature request carefully, by default glossary page will display glossary items by title, we are developing a new version like this:

Custom Glossary Item Order, Now Live in WordPress Tooltips Plugin

The “Custom Glossary Item Order” option empowers Glossary users by allowing complete control over the sequence in which glossary items are displayed. Here’s how it benefits them:
  1. Prioritization of Key Terms
    Users can highlight important or frequently accessed terms by placing them at the top, improving accessibility for readers.
  2. Logical Grouping
    Items can be arranged thematically or alphabetically, making navigation more intuitive and reducing the time users spend searching.
  3. Consistency with Content Strategy
    Aligns the display order with editorial priorities, such as mirroring the sequence of terms in related documentation or training materials.
  4. Dynamic Adaptability
    Enables quick adjustments to the order without modifying core content, accommodating evolving topics or user feedback seamlessly.
In essence, this option transforms the glossary from a static list into a dynamic, user-centric resource that enhances readability and supports strategic content delivery.

tooltips.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=232&action=edit

The number ‘232’ in this link represents the glossary ID. Copy these glossary IDs and arrange them in the desired order. For instance, you can customize the order of glossary items by arranging the glossary IDs like this:

177, 232, 231, 207, 131, 172, 173, 174, 175. Make a note of this ID number sequence as we will be using it shortly to customize the order of glossary items

(please note that the black bar in the image is from browser’s screenshot tool and is not part of the wordpress glossary settings panel)
8: As you can see, at the bottom of the glossary settings panel, there are new option: custom glossary item order, please copy the ID number sequence:
177, 232, 231, 207, 131, 172, 173, 174, 175 in the option, then click the blue save changes button
9: on the front-end, you will find that we have successfully customized the order of glossary items according to this specified ID sequence:
custom wordpress glosssary item order

custom wordpress glosssary item order

You can find the online demo at here

Please note that in this area, ambiguity often arises because we have a glossary archive page. This page originates from your theme’s category archive template. Our wordpress tooltips plugin cannot control this template from your theme, but we offer a paid customization service— good, fast, cheap. We can very quickly customize a child theme for you. This allows your theme to continue receiving updates while preserving the customized glossary template you desire. 🙂

Thanks, have a blessed day with your family 🙂

Fixing Theme Conflicts with Awesome and Bootstrap in WordPress Tooltips Plugin, how to use font-awesome tooltips – Version 35.8.8 Now Available

Hey, dear  WordPress Tooltip Plugin  users,  I hope this message finds you well and that you are enjoying wonderful days with your family.   We received a ticket from an amazing WordPress Tooltip user who reported a CSS conflict with their theme in the WordPress Tooltips Plugin. Our WordPress developer checked the theme and found that it conflicts with Bootstrap and Font Awesome, which are used by the tooltips, among other things. To resolve the issue for our valued tooltip user, our WordPress Tooltips developer has released a new version: WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus 35.8.8.

1: Resolved the conflict between the theme and the Bootstrap framework included in the WordPress tooltip:

Hi Support Team,
First of all: huge thanks again for the incredibly fast turnaround and the late-night work.
With 35.8.8 almost everything is spot-on on my side:

WooCommerce Orders page → the PHP warnings are gone ✅

Salient → Typography admin panel → no longer broken ✅

Social icons in header/footer → looking good ✅

There’s just one regression that appeared right after updating to 35.8.8:

On the front page the mobile header/hero layout is broken (menu/header block shifts & spacing goes off).

This was already fixed in the previous build, but with 35.8.8 it’s back.

Again, thank you so much for your tireless work and the super-quick responses — I really appreciate how flexible and helpful you are!

Warmly,

We resolve the issue for the tooltip user and we replied:

Hi

I hope this message finds that you are doing well and having happy days with your family 🙂

Sorry for the issue, we checked codes of the theme and our plugin, we also tested this issue across various resolutions and ultimately discovered it was caused by a conflict between Bootstrap and the theme. The solution is straightforward, please open tooltips global settings panel, and disable the option: “Enable / Disable Bootstrap CSS to Avoid Theme Conflicts ? “, on our side, we found all things works well 🙂

Would you please do a test and give us a feedback? If there are any problem, please don’t hesitate to tell us, we will resolve it for you asap we can 🙂

Thanks, have a blessed day with your loved ones 🙂

Best Regards,

WordPress Tooltips Support

2: WooCommerce Orders page: several PHP warnings still appear under the order details section (related to post_type being null):

Done, we have rewrite our codes like this to resolve the issue:

if (isset($post->post_type))
{

if ($post->post_type == ‘tooltips’)
{
add_meta_box(“show_tooltips_excerpt_control_meta_box_id”, __(‘Show excerpt in tooltip pop up?’, ‘wordpress-tooltips’), ‘show_tooltips_excerpt_meta_box’, null, “side”, “high”, null);
}
}

It works well now 🙂

3: Salient Typography panel: the admin interface under Salient → Typography becomes broken and misaligned when WordPress Tooltips Pro is active.

Done, we reviewed the core theme’s code and found it includes a .tooltip class, which conflicts with the .tooltips class in our admin.css file. We have rewrite our wordpress tooltips plugin like this way:

load the admin.css file for the WordPress Tooltips plugin in the wp-admin area only when the current screen belongs to the plugin.

Codes:

if (isset($_GET[‘post_type’]))
{
$tooltips_admin_post_type_check = sanitize_text_field($_GET[‘post_type’]);
if ($tooltips_admin_post_type_check === ‘tooltips’)
{
wp_enqueue_style(‘tooltips_pro_admin_css’, plugin_dir_url(__FILE__) . ‘asset/css/admin/admin.css’);
}
}

It works well now 🙂

4: Social icons: the Font Awesome icons in the menu and footer (social links) still display incorrectly or as empty boxes.

Done, in the salient theme , we found they load their scripts late like this:

add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘nectar_enqueue_dynamic_css’, 20 );

We rewrite our plugin to load Font Awesome late to avoid conflicts with other themes or plugins:

add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘ttfa_load_font_awesome’ ,10000);

So all codes in salient theme will run first, our coeds last-call font awesome load

Therefore, all code in the salient theme will be executed with priority, and our plugin will finally call Font Awesome to load.

It works well now 🙂

The user’s theme was using Font Awesome 6.5, and our Font Awesome Tooltips were also utilizing Font Awesome 6.4 in WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus 35.8.8. We upgraded the Font Awesome tooltips to use the latest version: Font Awesome 7.1.

  • fas — Solid icons
  • far — Regular icons
  • fab — Brand icons

Optimized CSS / JAVASCRIPT Loading for the WordPress Tooltips Plugin, WordPress Tooltips Pro PLus Plugin 35.6.8 Released

Hi dear WordPress tooltip users, I hope this message finds you well and enjoying joyful days with your loved ones.   We recently received a feature request from a talented WordPress developer who offered us some fantastic suggestions. Our dedicated plugin development team has been working tirelessly to implement these requests as quickly as possible:

Hi Tooltips team,
Thanks for the 35.5.8 update and for the quick support earlier. I’m using Tooltips Pro Plus on a site running the Salient theme (with WPBakery).

Cause: Tooltips enqueued Bootstrap/Awesome/reset CSS + an admin.css on the frontend, which overrode Salient’s responsive grid and FA stack.
Font Awesome collision (theme/stack uses FA6, plugin injected another FA; social icons became empty boxes / wrong glyphs).

Solution A:

We have rewritten our WordPress tooltips plugin to address theme conflicts in the following way:

1: Scan every queued / done stylesheet (handle + scr) for any bootstrap string / font-awesome string

2: If a theme or another plugin has already enqueued it, the routine bails out immediately, wordpress tooltips plugin will not load bootstrap / font-awesome packages.

3: Otherwise wordpress tooltips plugin itself loads the bootstrap / font-awesome packages

Our code looks like this::

$enableBootstrapCSS = get_option(‘enableBootstrapCSS’);
if ($enableBootstrapCSS == ‘NO’)
{

}
else
{

global $wp_styles;
$bs_handles = array(
‘bootstrap’,
‘bootstrap-css’,
‘bootstrap-style’,
‘bootstrap5’,
‘bootstrap-5’,
‘bootstrap4’,
‘bootstrap-4’,
‘tb-bootstrap’,
‘theme-bootstrap’,
‘font-enableBootstrapCSS’,
‘enableBootstrapCSS’,
);
foreach ( $bs_handles as $hdl ) {
if ( wp_style_is( $hdl, ‘registered’ ) || wp_style_is( $hdl, ‘done’ ) ) {
return;
}
}

$needles = array( ‘bootstrap’, ‘bootstrap.min.css’ );
foreach ( array_merge( $wp_styles->done, $wp_styles->queue ) as $done_or_queued ) {
$obj = $wp_styles->registered[ $done_or_queued ] ?? false;
if ( ! $obj ) {
continue;
}
$src = $obj->src ?? ”;
foreach ( $needles as $n ) {
if ( stripos( $src, $n ) !== false ) {
return;
}
}
}

wp_enqueue_script(‘bootstrap’, plugin_dir_url( __FILE__ ) . ‘js/bootstrap/bootstrap.min.js’, array(‘jquery’), ‘5.0’, true);

Next feature request:

Tooltips overflow on mobile (tooltip box ran off the viewport near the edges; arrow also clipped over content).

What I did to make it stable
A) Stopped plugin CSS that shouldn’t load on the frontend
I dequeue/deregistered only the Tooltips assets that cause conflicts (admin.css, ionRangeSlider skin, bootstrap/awesome/reset). Minimal, targeted snippet:

Solution B:

We have thoroughly reviewed the code in the wordpress tooltips plugin. In previous versions, we only loaded admin.css and the ionRangeSlider skin in the admin area, ensuring that they are not loaded on the front end. The code is structured as follows:

add_action(‘admin_head’, ‘tooltips_pro_admin_css’);

add_action(‘admin_head’, ‘tooltips_admin_rangeslider_css_js’);

Next feature request:
B) Loaded FA6 exactly once (no duplicate FA on frontend)
This resolved the icon issues (including old fa fa-* classes thanks to v4-shims).

Solution C:

This issue has been resolved in Solution A section

Feature request:
What would help if you implement it in the plugin

Asset isolation / options

Don’t enqueue admin CSS on the frontend (if ( is_admin() ) guards).
Done

Make Bootstrap/Font Awesome optional (off by default). Provide 3 choices in settings:
> a) Don’t load any icon set (use theme’s),
> b) Load FA6 (core/brands/solid),
> c) Legacy shim only for old fa fa-*.
Done , you are using FA6.5, wordpress tooltips using FA6.4

Avoid loading ionRangeSlider styles on frontend unless a slider is actually rendered.
Done

Namespace & scope CSS
Prefix all plugin selectors under a unique root (e.g., .tooltips-pro …) and avoid generic selectors like .row, .col, .btn, i, .icon, strong globally.
Done, we never use generic selectors like .row, .col, .btn, i, .icon, strong globally.

If you must style Bootstrap-like classes, scope them: .tooltips-pro .btn { … } not .btn { … }.
Done

Load only when needed
Enqueue frontend assets only if a tooltip is actually present on the page (shortcode/content scan or server-side flag).

Because wordpess tooltips plugin support many kinds of tooltips effect, for example, tooltips for menu item, use image ALT as image tooltips , tooltips for contact form fields…etc, actually now tooltips works for any element in a page…, because we have no way know how users using tooltips in a wordpress page, currently, we cannot find a solution for this feature request, sorry.

Font Awesome compatibility
If you ship FA, please use FA6 and document the stack; avoid injecting an older FA alongside FA6 to prevent glyph mismatches. Consider inline SVG for your UI icons to avoid any FA dependency at all.
Done , you are using FA6.5, wordpress tooltips using FA6.4

Thanks for the great suggestions, if you have any more feature request, please don’t hesitate to contact us, we are very happy to realize it for you 🙂

Thanks, have a blessed day with your family 🙂

Best Regards,

New Glossary List template with New Glossary List Shortcode in WordPress Tooltips Plugin — WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus 35.4.8 Released

Exciting New Glossary Template for Academic Theses with WordPress Tooltips Plugin!

Hi, dear wordpress tooltips user, I hope this message finds you well and that you’re enjoying wonderful moments with your loved ones. We’re thrilled to announce the release of WordPress Tooltips Pro Plus version 35.4.8, featuring a brand new glossary template specifically designed for academic theses! 🙂

What Inspired the Change?

In recent weeks, we’ve listened to valuable feedback from our community of WordPress Tooltips users. Many of wordpress tooltips plugin users who are building WordPress LMS systems for students expressed a desire for a new glossary template. You let us know how powerful our wordpress tooltips functionality is for displaying videos and images alongside glossary terms, helping students gain a clearer, more intuitive understanding of various concepts.

As graduation approaches, students are in the process of writing their theses, and incorporating a glossary at the beginning of their documents—right after the table of contents—has become essential. A well-organized glossary not only enhances the readability of their papers but also ensures that complex, technical, or field-specific terminology is easily understood.

These online education platforms aim to include a glossary at the beginning of the thesis document, immediately following the table of contents. Given the substantial use of technical or field-specific terminology within the thesis, adding a glossary enhances the readability of the paper.

Understanding Glossary and WordPress Glossary

A glossary is a list of terms in a specific domain of knowledge, accompanied by definitions. It serves as a reference tool to help users understand jargon, technical language, or specialized terminology that may not be immediately clear. Glossaries are commonly found in books, articles, websites, and various forms of media, providing clarity and enhancing comprehension for the audience. In many fields, having a glossary is essential, as it can help bridge the gap between experts and novices. For instance, in technical or academic writing, the inclusion of a glossary allows readers to grasp complex ideas without getting lost in unfamiliar vocabulary. Businesses, educators, and organizations often create glossaries tailored to their specific contexts to ensure effective communication. In the digital realm, a WordPress glossary is a similar concept adapted for websites built on the WordPress platform. It offers a dedicated section where visitors can find definitions of terms relevant to the content of the website. A WordPress glossary enhances user experience, making it easier for visitors to understand key concepts and terminologies used throughout the site.

How to Create Your Glossary with WordPress Tooltips

Creating a glossary with our wordpress tooltips plugin is a piece of cake! Simply insert the shortcode   [ glossary ] into your WordPress post, and voilà—you’ll have a beautiful glossary  ready in just one minute! Here’s what it looks like:

The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth. The trite subjects of human efforts, possessions, outward success, luxury have always seemed to me contemptible.
Do something wonderful, people may imitate it.
To follow, without halt, one aim: There is the secret of success.

A footnote is a note placed at the bottom of a page that provides additional information, comments, or citations related to specific parts of the text. Footnotes are commonly used in academic writing, books, and research papers to give credit to sources, clarify points, or offer supplementary details without disrupting the flow of the main text.

Key Features of Footnotes:

  • Location: They appear at the bottom of the page where the reference number or symbol (like an asterisk) is placed in the main text.
  • Format: Usually, a superscript number or symbol is used in the text to indicate a footnote.
  • Content: Can include references, explanations, or additional commentary relevant to the text.
  • Numbering: Footnotes are typically numbered consecutively throughout a document.

Example:

In-text: “This theory has been widely debated¹.”

Footnote:

¹ See Smith, John. *Theories of Evolution*. New York: Academic Press, 2020.

Footnotes are important for maintaining clarity and providing context without cluttering the main content.

Hi, dear WordPress Tooltips users, I  hop this message finds that you are doing well and having wonderful days with your family   We received a ticket from a WordPress Tooltips plugin user:

I would like to address a recurring issue that has been observed since the initial installation of the plugin several years ago. While this problem is not critical, it remains a point of concern. Each tooltip generated by the plugin triggers an error message in the browser console

The specific error pertains to the file located at /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php, consistently returning a 400 status code (Bad Request). To provide a clearer understanding of the situation, I will include a brief video demonstrating the error in action.

The team behind our WordPress tooltips plugin has conducted a thorough examination of the issue and has put in extensive effort to address it. The challenge is linked to the WordPress Tooltips Pro plugin version 20.6.4. In this version, the AJAX functionality is intended to track the number of clicks generated when users interact with the tooltips. This information is transmitted to the Click Statistics module, allowing WordPress site administrators to keep track of how many times each tooltip term has been clicked within the admin interface.

We resolved the issue in wordpress tooltips pro 20.7.4 , In this release, we have also adjusted how Bootstrap styles are loaded.

Thanks for the amazing suggestion, if you have any more feature request to wordpress tooltips plugin, please don’t hesitate to contact us, we are very happy to realize it for you

Thanks, have a blessed day with your family
