It’s funny, when you see the pattern of politically motivated bombings today, we are supposed to sort of pretend that one political party hasn’t monopolized violence and terrorism in the US for the last two decades. (THREAD)

But this is not a case of “both sides”. Sure, we are polarized and more divided than in living memory. And that’s not great, and the polarization is mutual. But ONLY ONE SIDE IS ROUTINELY KILLING PEOPLE.

One thing that's missing or at least severely downplayed in a lot of discussions around appropriate online behavior and holding people accountable for things they've said in the past is an acknowledgment and analysis of power.
If, say, a trans woman of color, who has experienced marginalization, danger, and fear living in a world of power structures that prioritize whiteness and maleness, lashes out at "white men" online, that is 100% NOT THE SAME as white men being racist and transphobic.
One is an expression, however small, of anger or anguish or defiance against the oppressive status quo. The other is an attempt to reassert and reinforce that oppressive status quo, to continue the dehumanization of people whose humanity is already denied and disregarded.

For years Louise Mensch has perpetuated odious attacks like this one against immigrants/ Muslims/POC and has helped normalize this rhetoric. Louise Mensch is a politician and political operative who has helped pave the way for racists like Trump.

#Fact 1 - The Wage Gap is real. People who says it's not haven't read the data.

However, in places like the USA, the wage gap is *not* mostly due to sexism like many #femnist #WomenInScience are claiming it is today. Disparate outcomes doesn't imply disparate treatment.
Women typically choose fields that are lower paying; even in the #STEM fields. To attribute that to sexism only or even mostly is a very dishonest way of deriving an answer for this complex disparity.
