MIUI 12 is almost here and its pretty much looks like a iOS rip off. iOS like control center and animations are here in MIUI 12. 
But here we are not gonna have a discussion about MIUI 12 because its still in beta stage and have major stability issues even on Xiaomi phones.

Well, lets talk about MIUI 11 then.</div><div><br /></div><div> Its pretty much stable as compared to MIUI 12 at this moment. Since there is no official way to get MIUI running on a Motorola device, all you have left is - Treble. Yes, if you have heard about it, GSIs are the way to experience MIUI on your motorola device. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>
Motorola G5 Plus have an almost 2 year old treble vendor (thanks to lord Vache), and since then we are enjoying all kind of GSI ports from various OEMs. They are not as stable as the ROMs built from sources, but they are not completely unusable also. Or I just say it depends on the person how many bugs he can tolerate :p. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>This MIUI 11 port for Moto G5 Plus is based on MIUI Mix, which is based on Xiaomi.eu builds of MIUI. Its android pie. It is an adfree version of MIUI and provides extra options and customization options as compared to global versions. I am personally using this port from last 3-4 days and I tried to fix as much bugs as possible and make it less bothering to everyone else. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I have converted this GSI into a flashble zip which saved you from flashing vendor and other 69 fixes zip files.

In terms of overall usage experience, its lagfree for me. I can not say the same if you gonna play some games and open 5-6 other apps in background. Enough talking, its getting boring, lets download it.

</div><h2><span>A serious note</span></h2>
• When setting up hotspot for first time, change "Device Identification" to "Default", don't cry later that hotspot isn't working if you didn't do this. If you did not do this stepa and turned on hotspot, it will give error, and the only way to solve is by doing clean flash again.
• If you flashing magisk 20.4, then turn on magisk hide from magisk manager settings otherwise you won't be able to pass safetynet.

Google removed the face unlock capabilities with Android 10 for some reasons like it was not much secure and Google was working on better face unlock bio metric capabilities which was kinda exclusive only for Pixel 4. So with this all other devices are left out without any kind of face unlocking and there was no way to get it on Android 10. Its a different case if your OEM implemented their own kind of face unlock in Android 10, for example - MIUI. <br />
<br />
There are 100's of smartphones and 1000's of custom ROM users who update their phones by using custom ROMs because their OEM stops providing updates which is nothing new in Android world. So people enjoyed face unlocking features on all Nougat, Oreo, Pie ROMs but there was no face unlock with Android 10. With this people had no choice if they want to use face unlock except using Pie or Oreo ROMs which is not the best solution because even in custom ROM communities the developers stops updating old sources for security patches. LineageOS is an kinda a exception in this. <br />
<br />
Pixel Experience is a popular custom ROM with Pixel feel. Even the Magisk developer topjohnwu was impressed with it just because it provided an experience which is mostly exclusive to Pixel Phones. The guy behind Pixel Experience ROM - Jhenrique with his top kek developing skills and knowledge has ported the face unlock from a Motorola device (which has Android 10 with face unlock). <br />
<br />
That means one thing - If you want face unlock on Android 10 then you have to start using a custom ROM. For now, its available in Pixel Experience ROM only but it can be available in other ROMs too if the ROM developers decide (Kang ? Joey ? Habork ?) to add this feature. Face unlock is popular, its not much secure as compared to fingerprint sensor based authentication but its a cool feature which people often asks for Android 10.<br />
<br />
I am personally using Pixel Experience Plus version which is an additional version of PE with some extra features. To setup face unlock I had to just go to settings then security and I found face unlock option there. It is not much secure as I was saying but I liked the thing that it can not unlock your phone if you close your eyes. Face unlock won't bother you by any error even if you hold your phone upside down or in landscape mode, it will unlock. It can be little troublesome to use at night but if sufficient light is  available it will unlock the phone. All you have to do for face unlock is to press the power button and show up you ugly or beautiful face. It will unlock by itself and open up the home screen or the app which you were using before locking your phone. <br />

<b>Substratum </b>provides the ability to theme your system and third party apps. Substratum has been here since android nougat and its still being managed. It was possible for people to use substratum even without root , but only upto Android 8.1. With Android Pie google has restricted the use of overlays on non-rooted devices. There is no to install them without root.<br />

So now if you are on Android 10 and want to use substratum themes then you need a rooted device. <strike>At this moment of writing this,  Android Q is still in beta stage and has been available to the app developers and for different devices for testing their apps and giving feedbacks.</strike><br />

There are new themes started popping up for Android 10 on play store. I will list all the Android Q supported substratum themes here in this post once they come out and will try to keep the post updated.<br />

For using substratum themes on Android Q , you need to be rooted with Magisk and need to install the  <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum.lite&hl=en" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><b>Substraum Lite </b> </a>app. This is the lite version of the popular Substratum theme engine. The main substratum theme engine app does not support Android Q as of now but we can expect to get it working in near future. Substratum lite supports Android Q and still being developed and improved for better compatibility with android.<br />

How to apply themes with substratum lite - <br />
Make sure you have Magisk and a Android Q compatible theme installed.<br />

Its no doubt that if you are reading this then you might be searching for some of the best kernel managers to tune kernel settings to get the maximum or balanced performance out of your phone. Other things which I am sure of is that - you know about root, installing ROMs and Kernels. Thats a good start and I don't need to explain you about kernel and root.<br />

A kernel manager allows you to tweak the settings of your device at the kernel level. A kernel is the heart of your phone and you need to take care of it sometimes to keep everything working well and fluid. Most of the Android devices are shipped with a default kernel which are already tuned for best performance but that might be not true for all. An average user does not care about much these things and maybe do not know about these things. All these stuff for the nerds. So a default kernel which is shipped with devices does not provide much options for users to tweak the settings, meanwhile a custom kernel opens a vast array of options for tweaking.<br />

With custom kernels you can tweak the CPU/GPU speed , manage the screen colors, get options for optimizing sound controls at kernel level and a lot of other things. It is not like that you will get all these options in a custom kernel automatically, for this the developer of that kernel has to add all these things in kernel. You can have more or less features compared to other custom kernels.<br />

Since we are looking here for kernel managers, then we do not have much options to choose from. Personally I found 3 kernel managers which serves the purpose of tweaking kernel very well. One of them is free and 2 are paid. So lets start with the free one.<br />

<h2><span>1. SmartPack Kernel Manager</span></h2>SmartPack-Kernel Manager is a heavily modified version of official Kernel Adiutor (KA), which is originally developed by Recognized Developer @Grarak. Kernel Adiutor has been abandoned and have not received any update from July 2018. Since it was an open source project ,so a new dev SunilPaulMathew picked this up and has been improving it since then. This is not available to download from play store , you need to download this from the app release page on github. Interface of the app is pretty simple and settings are divided in section using a sidebar. The best feature of this app is - Custom Controls. With custom controls you can even add support for the things which has been added in kernel but are not supported by kernel manager yet. You can read more about these controls in the app itself. They are not easy as they seems because you need some knowledge of shell scripts. <br />

<h2><span>2. FK Kernel Manager</span></h2>This is a paid app and one of the most popular kernel manager out there. It has a nice and modern which I think is needed for the tall display devices. It has its navigation bar at the bottom of the app and makes it easy to reach settings and other options. It also provides live CPU/GPU speed , input/output speed, info about wakelocks, RAM, Zram, thermal temperatures of different things and kernel logs too.<br />

It has per-app profiles support which is the best things. You can make and profile with different setting and save it. These settings will get applied automatically when you launch that app for which you made that profile. It has a script manager which allows you to write a shell script and it will get automatically executed every time your phone boots. You can import and export these scripts easily from/to storage.<br />
<br />
It has a nice dark mode by default but you can that to light from settings. If you enable the battery monitor , it will start showing you the battery stats in notification bar which details of idle battery drain and on screen usage drain percentages. Its a very useful feature for me. <br />

On various occassion our smartphone runs out of internal storage i.e. we don't have enough internal storage to backup rom. If you have latest recovery and a PC then you don't have to worry about internal storage of your phone because you can make backup of several roms without worrying about storage. <br />

Here I am writing a handy guide to create an ADB backup on Computer with TWRP V3.1. <br />

<h2><span>How To Take TWRP Backup On PC With ADB</span></h2><br />
<b>1.</b> You should be on latest TWRP i.e. V3.1. <br />
<br />
<b>2.</b> You need ADB setup on your PC. Check out <a href="https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790" target="_blank">  Minimal ADB and Fastboot and how to set it up. </a><br />
<br />
<b>3.</b> Turn on USB debugging .<br />
<ul><li>Go to <b><i>Settings >> About Phone</i></b></li>
<li>Tap <b><i>Build Number </i></b> 7 times until it says "You are now a developer"</li>
<li>Under <b><i>Settings >> Developer Options</i></b> , Turn on USB debugging.</li>
</ul><br />
<b>4.</b> Reboot to recovery and connect your phone to PC via USB cable.<br />
<br />
<b>5.</b> On your PC, create a new folder where you want to save the TWRP backup files. Then do Shift + Right click on any empty white space inside the folder, and select <b>Open command window here </b>from the context menu.<br />
<br />
<b>6.</b> Once command window is open, type in the following command to initiate TWRP backup:<br />

<b>7.</b>As soon as you type the above command , TWRP Recovery will automatically open the <b>Backup</b> screen . You have to select the partition which you want to backup .<br />

<b>9.</b> Wait until backup process fineshes. Your backup will be saved and then you can disconnect your phone from PC.<br />

<h2><span>How To Restore TWRP Backup From PC With ADB</span></h2>You can backup your data with ADB then you definitely want to restore it whenever you need it. Maybe in case of BOOTLOOP 😂.  Here are the instructions to restore TWRP Backup you made earlier . <br />
<b>1. </b> Reboot to recovery and connect to PC with USB cable.<br />
<br />
<b>2.</b> Open the folder where you took backup of your ROM with ADB .<br />
<br />
