The Image Optimizer is operated by Nerd Cow Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. We're the people responsible for this service and for your data.
If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at [email protected].
We only collect what we actually need. Here's the full list:
License key — generated when you sign up. This is your identity on the service.
Usage stats — how many images you've compressed, when you compressed them, and the file sizes before and after. We use this to calculate your credit balance.
Email address — only if you choose to link one. You'd do this to access your dashboard or recover your key. Completely optional.
Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Not even a little bit.
Basic analytics — page views via Counter.dev. No cookies, no tracking scripts, no personal data. Just a simple count of how many people visit.
Just as important as what we do collect:
Your images — we don't store them. Originals and compressed files are processed in memory and deleted immediately after. Once you download your result, it's gone from our end.
Cross-site tracking — we don't follow you around the web. No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting.
Third-party advertising data — we don't sell or share your data with anyone for advertising purposes. Ever.
Under UK GDPR, we need a legal reason to hold any data. Here's ours:
License key + usage stats — contractual necessity. We need these to actually run the service you signed up for.
Email address — your consent. You choose to link it, and you can unlink it any time.
Payment records — contractual necessity, plus we're legally required to keep them for tax purposes.
Analytics — legitimate interest. Understanding how the site is used helps us improve it, and Counter.dev doesn't involve any personal data at all.
License key and usage data — for as long as your key is active.
Email address — until you choose to unlink it from your account.
Usage logs — 12 months, then they're deleted.
Payment records — 6 years, as required by UK tax law.
Under UK GDPR, you have rights over your data. You can:
Access — ask us what data we hold about you.
Correct — ask us to fix anything that's wrong.
Delete — ask us to erase your data (the “right to be forgotten”).
Object — tell us to stop processing your data in certain ways.
Port — request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you can also complain to the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) at ico.org.uk.
We use two cookies, both strictly necessary for the service to work. Because they're essential, we don't need to ask for your consent to set them — but we'll always be transparent about what they are.
See our Cookie Policy for the full details.
We work with a very short list of third parties:
Stripe — processes all payments. They handle your card details so we never have to. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Counter.dev — privacy-friendly analytics. No cookies, no personal data, no tracking. See Counter.dev's Privacy Policy.
That's it. No Google Analytics, no Facebook pixels, no ad networks, no data brokers.
Our servers are hosted in Europe. Counter.dev is also EU-based.
Stripe is a US-based company, but they operate under appropriate safeguards (including Standard Contractual Clauses) that meet UK GDPR requirements for international data transfers.
This service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page always shows when it was last changed. By continuing to use the service after changes are made, you're accepting the updated policy.
