How to accept PayPal payments for your WordPress events?

PayPal is a widely-used payment platform, and EventPrime makes it easy to integrate PayPal payments for your events. However, before you can start accepting payments, you’ll need to obtain your PayPal client ID and secret key. In this article, we’ll walk you through the process of acquiring these credentials.

Step 1: Create a PayPal Business Account

If you have not already, start by setting up an active PayPal business account, providing necessary business details and linking your business bank account for withdrawls.

Step 2: Access PayPal Developer Dashboard

Log in to the PayPal Developer Dashboard using your existing PayPal Business account credentials. Ensure the toggle is set to “Sandbox” for testing purposes.

Step 3: Initiate App Creation

Navigate to “Apps & Credentials” in the top menu. Click on “Create App” and fill out a short form, naming your PayPal app for easy identification.

Choose between “Merchant” (for your own business) or “Platform” (for processing payments for multiple sellers) and hit “Create App” again to proceed.

Step 4: Retrieve Client ID and Secret Key

Under “Sandbox API Credentials,” locate the “Client ID” and copy the provided alphanumeric string. Also, click “Show” under the “Secret” field to reveal the Secret Key and copy it.

To start accepting PayPal payments on your website, you need to download and install the EventPrime core plugin.

Once the plugin is downloaded, follow the steps below:

Step 1:  Install and activate the plugin on your WordPress dashboard.

Step 2: Now go to the EventPrime admin menu and click on Settings.

Step 3: This will take you to the “Setting” page. You will find the Payments option, where you can choose “PayPal” as the default payment. Further, to configure its settings click on ‘Manage’.

Step 4: Here, you will need to add your “PayPal Client ID”, which you can find in your PayPal dashboard.

Step 5: Save the changes once done. The PayPal payment option will now be available for all bookings.

Step 6: Now, book your ticket using PayPal. Select “PayPal” as your payment method and press checkout, where you will be redirected to the PayPal page to confirm your payment.
