Fic: We The People [May. 23rd, 2007|08:57 pm]
The Daily Show Shorts Community

sailorptah
Based on the May 7 toss (involving an original copy of the Constitution). Goes along with A More Perfect Union, though it isn't in the same continuity.

I have at least two more ficlet bunnies that go with this toss. Whether I'll come up with something for every clause of the Preamble is anybody's guess, but it would make a nice little connection, wouldn't it?

Title: We, The People
Rating: G
Word count: ~300
Pairing: Stephen/everybody.
Summary: The comment dropped in Monday's toss has interesting repercussions.

Stephen clapped his hands. They stood at attention. Not a few blushes were in evidence.Collapse )

A challenge, for anyone who feels like taking it up:

Write at least a drabble (100 words) containing the phrase...

Cut for minor 03.06 TCR spoilerCollapse )

Give it whatever context you like. Or, y'know, none at all.

Greta Van Susteren/Flusteredness = OTP? [Feb. 2nd, 2007|12:41 am]
The Daily Show Shorts Community

sailorptah
Recipe for a ficlet:

Take one complaint about Fox News personalities sneaking into the studio to use the microwave. Add one prime cut from a scene involving a battery with the apparently irresistible label "Lick Me". Throw in a dash of slash. Stir.

Serves ... *checks userinfo* ... 150, apparently.

Title: Off The Record
Pairing: Jon/Stephen, Greta Van Susteren/Flusteredness
Length: ~400 words
Rating: PG for implied ... well, you'll see.

His tie was half untied and his shirt a bit rumpled, in contrast to the polished persona she had seen when he visited the Factor, but it was decidedly him.Collapse )

Fic: Birth of the Nation [Dec. 8th, 2006|08:34 pm]
The Daily Show Shorts Community

sailorptah
What follows is a crossover with the Cartoon Network show Time Squad. If you've never seen it, don't worry; it's not a complicated show.

The main characters work with an agency from the far future that monitors history and keeps it from changing ("Whether it's helping Napoleon be more assertive or convincing Einstein that physics - not used cars - might be his true calling, the heroes of Time Squad do whatever it takes to keep history from unraveling"). There's the large and dimwitted, but good-hearted Tuddrussel; the fastidious robot Larry 3000; and Otto, the geeky kid whom they pulled out of a draconic orphanage to help the team when they realized he knew more about history than either of them.

The stage thus set, let's get to the fic!

Title: Birth of the Nation
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I wrote it as a poem. Just to be different.Collapse )
Summary: There's an interview in which Stephen talks about the time when his wife was pregnant with their second child and he didn't have a job, and how scary that was. I figure he might have had some doubts about his career at that point. Here, Time Squad sets him straight.

I'm not famous enough to have stalkers.Collapse )

Inspired by true events, such as, TDS being on vacation for the next two weeks, write about:

Holidays, islands, fancy drinks, hammocks, relaxation, rejuvination, palm trees, three hour tours.

You get it. Now write it!

Four little drabbles for this neglected community.

Anyway, I felt like we have also been neglecting Samantha. Let's write about her for a bit, even though she doesn't get any in this.

All by me, none rated over R. Pairings include Jon/Stephen, Rob/Ed, Jon/Stephen/Tucker(because I am on crack) and one surprise (*Evil smirk*)

This community has been very quiet recently, so I wrote this. Sorry, it doesn't relate to the current challenge at all.

Pairing: Rob/Ed
Rating: um...PG, maybe?
Comments: I recently had my wisdom teeth out, so if this is extraordinarily bad, blame the pain medication. Actually, that applies if this is extraordinarily good, too. o_0

It must be.Collapse )
