In the field of religion, practical spirituality emerges in varieties of transformative movements and seeking in self, culture, and society which interrogate existing structures of domination and strive for new modes of self-realization, God-realization, and world-realization. Practical spirituality seeks to transform religion in the direction of creative practice, everyday life, and struggle for justice and dignity. Practice here is not just practice in the conventional sense, for example, in traditions of American pragmatism or anthropological conception of practice as offered by Clifford Geertz, Pierre Bourdieu, and Jurgen Habermas. These conceptions suffer from an entrenched dualism such as theory and practice and immanence and transcendence and work with a notion of subject which is predominantly “techno-practitioner” and cut off from its inescapable and integral links with transcendence. But practice in practical spirituality is simultaneously immanent and transcendent and the actor here is simultaneously a “techno-practitioner” and “transcendentally real self.” Practical spirituality embodies immanent transcendence, as for example in music or in the experience of transcendence in our various moments of everyday life—love, meditations, scientific engagements, and other activities of life and in society.

In the present article, we employ the construct of marketing mix and extend it further to organize various anti-counterfeiting tactics into a holistic framework. We attempt to answer: how – and to what extent – can the companies reconfigure their marketing mix so that it is tough for the counterfeiters to make and sell the inexpensive replications of their original creations? The present article makes a contribution by reconfiguring the traditional marketing mix for bringing together disparate anti-counterfeiting tactics at the center stage of designing the marketing program.

Co... more This essay argues how practical spirituality involves the art and science of conscious living. Conscious living involves silencing the continuous chatter of the mind in a relaxed playful manner and looking within to connect with what is going inside us. At the same time being in touch with what is happening outside. Then putting together both these aspects in such a manner that neither is overpowering the other; and experiencing a gentle flow of events that happens naturally, without deciding or fixing anything ahead of the time. The essay argues how conscious living is a reality and possibility in our every day life and relevant for everybody rather than only for the so-called spiritually enlightened.

The present empirical study conducted amongst the managers of the private, public sector and foreign banks operating in India performs an in-depth examination of the role of different constituent dimensions of QWL in determining the overall and dimension-wise QWL perceived by the respondents. ANOVA analysis is performed to determine the significance of difference in responses among the managers of private, public sector and foreign banks on the basis of their overall WL and its different constituents. Significant differences were observed amongst the responses of the respondents from the private, public sector and foreign banks; highlighting the differential impact of these constituent dimensions in different organizations in the same industry.

To answer this fundamental question, the present study employs the case example of two leading e-platforms: Freecharge and PayTM that are employing diametrically opposite strategies in order to scale up their ventues. It also examines the role of Push and Pull strategies in a single industry, thus drawing the reader to take a position, which is better and why?

But, the spiritual message that we get from Sikhism, a monotheistic religion established in Northwest India at the beginning of the sixteenth century AD, goes much beyond the focus on the spiritual elevation of an individual and lays an equally strong emphasis on the regeneration of the society.

Spirituality is about valuing and deeply connecting with what we hold sacred in ourselves, other beings, and the universe as an integral whole. Spirituality isn’t diametrically opposed to science. The notion that science and spirituality are somehow mutually exclusive does a disservice to both (Sagan, 1995). Like science, spirituality is also involved in the pursuit of meaning, purpose, and explores the nature of reality. The two approaches of spirit and science have received separate emphasis in their development in Eastern and Western civilisations. On the one side, (the spiritual), the individual existentially lives within the collective movement to meaning. On the other side (the scientific) the individual is understood intellectually in the essential material separation from the collective. In this article, we integrate these two approaches. In the spiritual realm, the movement of a...

This study aims to bridge this gap by extending the TCV to the FDA context to examine food consumption-related values and interpreting and rechristening generic consumption values to adapt the TCV to the FDA context. Design/methodology/approach An explorative mixed-method research approach was taken to conduct focus group discussions with 20 target users to develop the questionnaire and then administer it for a cross-sectional survey (pen and pencil) to FDA users aged 22–65 years; 423 complete responses so received were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings The findings show that epistemic value (“visibility”) is the chief driver of purchase intentions toward FDAs, followed by conditional (“affordances”), price (part of functional value) and social value (“prestige”).
