Eligibility

Who can apply

Standard path

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (180 ECTS) with a major in a relevant field:

— Translation or interpreting

— Language teaching or pedagogy

— Course or curriculum design

— Linguistics or applied linguistics

— Intercultural communication

— Education with a language specialisation

— TESOL, FLE, FLS or equivalent

Final-year students accepted conditionally.

Alternative path

No qualifying degree in one of these fields? You may still be eligible by demonstrating relevant professional experience in language teaching or a related area.

Borderline applications will be reviewed by a panel.

Language requirements — B2 in two TELME languages

If English is not one of your two chosen languages, a B1 in English is also required.

Validity
Certificates must be issued less than 3 years before the date the application is submitted. Authenticity will be verified upon admission.

Waiver
The requirement may be waived if your institution provides a formal written attestation explicitly referencing CEFR levels.

Application

Procedures & required documents

Submit online in English, with certified English translations of all official documents. Exception: diplomas and transcripts are accepted in all four TELME languages (EN, FR, ES, DE) — certified translations are not required, though they are welcome. Incomplete or late applications will not be examined.

2		Bachelor’s diploma + official transcript of records (accepted in EN, FR, ES or DE — certified translation welcome but not required; for all other languages, an official translation is required)

Motivation
4		Cover letter (max. 1,000 words — demonstrating consistency between your profile and the programme’s objectives)
5		Motivation video (max. 2 minutes — demonstrating language proficiency in both chosen languages and explaining your choice of mobility path)
Profile
6		Curriculum Vitae (Europass format preferred)
7		2 recommendation letters (submitted in the application, or sent directly to [email protected] if the referee prefers)
8		Academic publications (if applicable — for publications in languages other than English, provide an English translation of the abstract)

⚠ AI policy

The use of AI tools for writing, scripting, editing or image generation in the cover letter or motivation video is not authorised. Any application where AI use is suspected may be declared ineligible.

Proof of residence is not required at the time of application. Admitted students will be asked to provide one in May/June 2027.

Holistic merit (originality of profile, interdisciplinary background, contribution to cohort diversity)

Each eligible application is evaluated by at least 2 evaluators from different partner universities. A jury comprising representatives from all partner universities will then convene to decide who is admitted to the programme, who is awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, and the mobility path assignment of each admitted student. Candidates will be notified by end of March.

* Results communicated at the end of March are conditional for all applicants and confirmed shortly after the early-April webinar (see below).

† In early April, all shortlisted applicants attend a webinar. Scholarship applicants have their acceptance interview immediately afterwards, as part of the same session — results follow shortly after. Self-funded applicants attend a webinar presenting the programme and may then book an individual appointment for their chosen mobility path if they wish. If accepted, self-funded students pay a booking fee before receiving their acceptance letter, needed for their visa application — we support them through the visa procedures that follow.

Applying for two mobility paths?

Applicants wishing to be considered for two different tracks must submit two separate applications.

Unsuccessful candidates may appeal in writing within 10 days of notification, where they believe there has been a procedural failure or unlawful discrimination. Appeals are normally addressed within 28 calendar days.
