Stupid sleep schedule.

So again, I couldn't get to sleep last night. At about 6:30am, when I was finally getting sleepy, it occurred to me that I could stay up and go get the tire we needed. Which I did and being there that early was great; I was the first or second car they had and so they were able to take care of it right away. Thing is, I walked to the nearest coffee place to get a mocha and I forgot to get decaf. So coffee + sugar + no sleep = wired Ruth. I didn't get to sleep until sometime after noon and then woke up around 6.

The weird thing is, this isn't insomnia; I do sleep well and soundly when I get to sleep. it's just that I'm keeping vampire hours. This really wouldn't matter too much given that I dont' work, but it screws things up like doing laundry--we're not supposed to do it after 10 because the laundry rooms are right under the master bedrooms of the three bedroom units--and my weekend. This is slashamoot weekend, which means driving to the Bay Area. I really don't mind the drive when I'm awake, but the chances are good that I will not have slept that night. Makes for a long day.

Also, tires should not be as much as they are. It's been ages since I've had to buy one--like probably at least five years--and when he called up the list of available tires and the prices my eyes popped out of my head. This is a good, reputable chain; they weren't trying to rip me off or anything, so what are you gonna do? That one tire was getting close to bald, and beyond the illegality of it, the weather's been rainy and it was one of the front tires and I'd really rather not have one of us have to deal with a blowout at California freeway speeds. But we're gonna be tight for the rest of the month because of this.
