Speaking of...Ep 5 of State Within

I think there are maybe two or three people on my flist actually watching this. Although hopefully that number will go up as I spread the eps around. Regardless, I'mma post in my usual random way about it now anyway.

Speaking of spoilersCollapse )

*flails*

Oh thank you State Within.

vague spoilersCollapse )

minor stuff and a huge THANK YOU!

First of all, a giant Thank You!! to sneezer222 for the two months of paid LJ time. I feel kind of bad because my last post was totally not a passive-aggressive attempt to get people to buy me time, but you know? She's the kind of person who would just do that kind of thing randomly because she's just that nice. *many hugs*

The rest of this post is pretty random and kinda boring., so I'mma resort to the Herb Caen three-dot journalism style here.

It is raining and while I love that fact, I kind of wish it had held off until much later, as darkrosetiger had to work at the library today, which means walking over from her office to the library because there are never any parking spots over there.

I had cookies for breakfast. Lovely chewy oatmeal cookies with raisins and dried cranberries, which makes them almost as healthy as the cereal I buy at TJs with the almonds and the cranberries and the oat flakes and the sort of granola nugget bits that don't go soggy in milk. One of the best things about using the recipe off the package--whether it's Toll House for chocolate chip cookies, or Quaker Oats for Oatmeal cookies--is that they taste just like the ones Mom used to make. Well provided your mom used those same recipes, which our moms did.

As you do, we ended up talking about moms and cookies, particularly the kind you roll out--um the cookies, not the moms--and cut. I mentioned cookie cutters and we both realized that both our moms had cookie cutters that were dog shaped. They were metal and looked kind of like little Scottie/Westie dogs. Nancy thinks that the one her mom had came with the rest of the Christmas set and I know the one my mom had was the same type as the Christmas cutters.

What I want to know is: did the dog shapes really come with the Christmas set? I remember that there was a Christmas tree shape, a star, a Santa, maybe a candy cane (?) and possibly some other seasonal shapes and then...a dog. MM, if you're reading this, could you solve this mystery for us? ETA: OK now I know that the dog came with the Christmas set. But why a dog? It's not exactly a Christmasy image.

Wow, OK then -- State Within Episode One

[x-posted to isaacsanonymous]

The State Within is trying pretty hard to be convoluted and in the first ep, it's managed to toss out a lot of strands and only show us how a few of them are connected. I am hopelessly confused, which I suspect is the intention. I'll admit that I'm hooked and I'd probably be hooked even if Jason weren't fantastic. Sharon Gless is rocking my socks as well and everyone else certainly seems to be doing a pretty good job of it. Plus, there's boy kissing and pretty hot boy kissing at that. Not Jason, alas, but you take what you can get.

some thoughts on watching something produced for a British audience. Includes spoilers.Collapse )

The Jason squee factor is up to 11 here at the Rozilla household. Jason is both hot and excellent in this; he had me near tears a couple of times and I loved that Sir Mark is both politically savvy and very human. Also OMG, he's got enough hair these days to actually part.
