You all know who NOM is right? Not the lolcat word for food, but the National Organization for Marriage. You know...the people who don't want me to be married to Nancy. The homophobic assholes who made that "The Coming Storm" vid.

This morning there was an ad from them on someone's LJ page. Then, asknosecrets found this ad.

And please don't tell me that these ads are powered by Google and have nothing to do with LJ. I know it's Google ads and you know what? I DON'T CARE.

Not only do I not want to see ads that act like I'm less than a person and that mock and belittle my trans friends, I don't want ANYONE to see those ads. Oh sure, I have adblock and most of my friends do or have paid accounts, but you know what? The ads are still there, no-paying LJ users and people who don't have adblock or people who don't sign when they read their flist from work, they all see your content with those ads. Think about that for a moment and decide if that's what you want.

DW may not be the best thing ever, but one thing's for sure: you won't see those ads or any others on the site.

I'm on my way out the door, but at some point, I'll come up with a new LJ cross-posting policy.

Because no matter how you spin it, those ads are WRONG.

Oh and by the way? I still have three DW codes for people who would rather be somewhere else.
