Our History

NYC Teaching Fellows is one of the country’s largest and most selective accelerated teacher training programs. Since 2000, it has prepared thousands of teachers for high-need schools and subject areas. Today, more than 9,000 Fellows work in the city’s schools.

Many Fellows grow into leadership roles. More than 600 Fellows serve as principals, assistant principals, or other instructional administrators. In fact, NYC Public Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels is a proud Fellows alumnus!

Our Mission

The NYC Teaching Fellows brings passionate career changers and recent college graduates into NYC classrooms to teach critical-need subject areas, including Special Education, Science, Math, and Spanish. We are training a critical mass of great teachers who believe that change starts in the classroom.

Our training program hones the essential skills new teachers need to be ready to lead a classroom on day one and make a difference for the students who need them the most. NYC Teaching Fellows believe that every lesson has the power to inspire, every hour in the classroom is precious, and every student can achieve success.
