Oh my lord I'm tired. There's something about knowing that I have to be up for something important (like work!) earlier than usual that makes it difficult for me to sleep properly. Always has done. This morning, I woke around 3:30 and was half-awake/dozing only for at least an hour before finally getting back to sleep. To get up at seven...before the sunrise. *winces* Not that you could tell when it *did* finally show up anyway, with all the rain and wind.

Very quiet day at work, as expected. I spent some of my time fashioning paper snowflakes. But, not your garden-variety ones! No, they were these lovely 3-D snowflakes. A bit finicky so far as needing some patience, but older-child-and-up appropriate, and they really do look pretty. I'd meant to link to that last week for those of you with kids but perhaps it might make a good distraction on the day itself? We used just plain old multi-purpose copier paper (no shortage of that in a fax department!) and it works very well. I would *love* to do some with really beautiful paper, though, despite the fact that they are most likely best viewed as annual rather than perennial decorations.

Had a musical moment with my dad after getting home, which pretty much made my Christmas. :D Y'all who've been here a while know that I miss sharing that with him. He doesn't get in the mood for really listening to music that often anymore so that was lovely.

The Amazon.ca gift certificate waiting in my inbox from my godparents didn't hurt, either. ;-D

And then I talked to Jeff for a while on the phone, since she'll be out and about tomorrow visiting various family members. My cell phone is being a wanker though; it quit texting this afternoon for some ungodly reason. Hopefully it clears itself up overnight! It's behaving a bit weird in general lately, no doubt due to being nearly four years old. I keep thinking I should go trade it in but I haven't gone yet.

I suppose Amazon counts, but I didn't open a gift on Christmas Eve this year as I usually do, mainly as I'm already sitting in it lol. Which is just as well, really. Knowing my mother, she would actually have wrapped the computer chair - with paper, all over every surface, and miles and miles of tape!

Anyway that's enough sleepy babble outta me. Happy Christmas Eve, and a belated Happy Solstice as well, since I was too busy doing the headless chicken dance to properly celebrate that. And for seanlily:

I hope it was a good one, dear.

Oh, one last thing: I'm saddened that nobody wanted to play pretend!OTP with me and make us a fanmix. Deeply saddened, y'all. *pouts*

Quick post before I run off to bed! Here, caffrey is hosting a major holiday tune comment-spamathon. It is a veritable treasure trove! Merci to my_own_beat_now for enlightening me (and now y'all) as to its existence. *mwah*

On another music-related note, piper47 had what I thought was an extremely cool idea and I'm stealing it with her permission. It's replacing a Wishlist for me this year, since I didn't manage to cobble one of those together and honestly, there's very little I want besides the digital camera that I'm going to have to go buy myself one of these days! (I daren't tell the mother that's what I want. Last year I mentioned wanting an mp3 player and linked her to one to show her what I was talking about, and she almost immediately bought the damn thing. I'm not ungrateful - I've quite enjoyed using it! - but I didn't really *research* it the way I would have if I'd known that's what she was going to do with the information, y'know?) Anyway, in lieu of a list, there is this:
What I want is a fanmix, of me and you. I want you to pair us up and give us a fanmix. You can decide what kind of pairing we are. Are we a platonic OTP? Are we the OTP to end all OTPs? Do we have a love that dare not speak its name? Or are we just in it for the sex?

Doesn't have to be a full-length CD or anything. I just thought it was a wicked idea. :D ETA: Whether or not you reveal the nature of the pairing and/or the reasoning behind the inclusion of any particular song is totally up to you. If you were to include, for example, Bitch by Meredith Brooks, you don't have to tell me if it's because you think I'm an empowered and complicated woman, or because you really think I'm a bitch. ;-D Anything goes! And if you'd rather not 'go public,' y'all have my email address, too.

I remember this going around last year, and how much fun it was. I've seen a few pop up so I thought I'd join in again.

STEP ONE
Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 Christmas wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related to medium to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ.

STEP TWO
Surf around your friends list to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You don't have spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's Christmas special.

Anyone who would like my snail mail can email me at my livejournal.com address. :-)

Yeesh, coming up with ten was hard. Also, Punch Much keeps playing Chasing Cars and I can't turn it off b/c I love it so much but it is not helping my mood. :-( I believe I will go to bed after this go-round.

Have a random mp3: Penelope's Song by Loreena McKennitt, from her new album that's out next Tuesday, An Ancient Muse. I'd uploaded it for evaine and thought some of you might enjoy it, too.
