Father Christmas by Christine Hulme Colin

I hope everyone is having a lovely day so far, even if you're still in bed simply enjoying a Tuesday off work. :D ♥ to you and yours.

Blender.com has a feature on The 28 Most Recognizable Guitars. Yes, Blue is on the list. Hee.

my_own_beat_now found this info (bolding is mine):
"Two-time GRAMMY® Award winner Melissa Etheridge, five-time GRAMMY Award winner Faith Hill and nine-time GRAMMY Award winner Alicia Keys will host "My Night At The GRAMMYs," a new entertainment special celebrating the upcoming 50th GRAMMY Awards with the Top 25 favorite GRAMMY moments, as voted on by viewers. The two-hour special also will feature the stories behind the moments as told by the artists themselves, and will be broadcast Friday, Nov. 30, 8-10 p.m. ET/PT, on the CBS Television Network.

Christina Aguilera, Billie Joe Armstrong, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Bono, Elvis Costello, Celine Dion, Alan Jackson, Elton John, Ricky Martin and Usher will join hosts Etheridge, Hill and Keys in remembering their own remarkable moments as performers and winners on past GRAMMY telecasts."

That's an interesting collection of people. It's unfortunately *missing* two of my favourite interesting people (aka the rest of the damn band) but still. TV appearance in two days w00t.

I am so tired today. Up early again, and again tomorrow. I won't manage wakefulness much longer, if that's what you could call my vacant staring right now, lol. Hot chocolate and bed, yisyis. It was very slow at work so I got a good chunk of decorating time and things are taking shape. Our 'theme' is the Ice Queen's Palace from Narnia, which was my idea and I'm nominally in charge. I've been making the deliberate effort to relax and have fun with it, and let other people have fun with it, instead of allowing my natural inclination to prevail, which would be to corral everybody into doing things EXACTLY LIKE I SAY TO OR IT'S NOT RIGHT, DAMMIT. *laughs* Oh my God I can get so anal and bossy when running something like this. Being able to let go of that mostly is one of the major signs that indeed, I have matured somewhat since I was a teenager!

It'll actually look better in the end than if it were done according to only my plan, anyway; J has an artistic bent and he's had some stellar ideas. I, on the other hand, am quite crafty but when it comes to real art I am a total loss. Art and gym were the only two classes I was exempted from the straight-A requirement for, because I am not athletic (love to dance though I do!) and I cannot draw. I always got an A for effort but was never able to achieve more than a plain B in an art class. I've often thought that some of my drive and talent in writing comes from being a frustrated artist. Incapable of painting with acrylics, I use the one tool I can wield well: words. All the images in my head have to come out in language if they're to attain any measure of external comprehension or beauty.

Mmm White Russians are yummy. I'm indulging in one and then I'm going to go pass out, lol. (Er, not from one drink, just in general. :P)

The Daily Show writers have this video on YouTube about the strike, done in excellent TDS style. Funny *and* informative, whee.

This is writer Elizabeth Bear's post with an AMAZING painting by Dave Leri that's serving as cover art for her story, Hobnoblin Blues. Her decidedly wibbly description from her previous post:
"I do not get like this about illustrations, but that's the dude. It's perfect, right down to the seventies crotch-shot of the sullen rock star in the strategically frayed jeans in front of the peeling bill-plastered brick."

You get why I linked it up now, right? ;-) Hee. It really is an awesome piece of work.

I didn't know that there was actually a Bridge School Concert collection of songs performed at the school benefits. I'd link, but it's on iTunes, and I can't even look at it because I don't *have* iTunes. *scowls*

Re: the song currently playing: the first time I put on the Hospital Music CD in the car and really *listened* to it, this song came on - it's the closer - and I thought, "OMG that's awfully optimistic for Matt!" And indeed, it is a cover. :D I can't tell you how amused I was that my world was NOT turned upside down by Matthew Good: Sudden Brightsider. Ahahaha.

(Yes, much better day. ♥ )

The Vanier Cup is on today, which is the Canadian university equivalent of the Superbowl. When someone did something dumb (dunno what, don't watch), this emerged:
DAD: You big stupid person you!
MOM: Fucking asshole!

Ahahahahaha. Yet more evidence that my parents are completely backwards, as if my dad's addiction to the movie The American President contrasted with my mom's predilection for the Lethal Weapon and Die Hard! series' wasn't clear enough, lol. It's really quite funny. I'm sometimes amazed that I ended up being fairly girly, despite the attraction to power tools. xD

Got stamps! And Christmas presents! The 2 biggest malls had a no-tax thing today, which is not inconsiderable seeing as our provincial tax is fifteen fucking percent, so I bought pretty much everything I needed to get to be mailed out this coming week. Yay. Three more things to get, all of which can now wait until I get paid again lol. And I was very, very good: I got nothing for myself. (Er, except a coffee, but I'm not counting that.) This was accomplished largely by the discipline of staying the fuck away from music stores.

linzeestyle, I don't know if you were serious about the collage, but if so I have a pic I would LOVE for you to do something with for me. *bats eyelashes*

A big Happy Birthday! to linzeestyle - I left you a link on your own LJ but figured I'd cross-post in case you missed it.  (Okay, and to show off, lol.)  The pix are 2 that I held back from the group I sent you and Shannon, for just this purpose. :D

Picture Perfect (full size)

In other news, I remember what I was going to post about yesterday.  I was explaining to Jeff at lunch that I've decided not to go to Montreal but might go to Boston, and she was laughing just as Nicola sat down (one of the newbies).  When Nicola asked what concert I was talking about and I said Green Day, she laughed and said that she saw them a number of years ago in Fredericton (New Brunswick), but they weren't allowed to go back there b/c Billie Joe took his clothes off and played naked.  Then she looked down at her lunch with a smirk and admitted that she'd had a nice view.  LOL.  I was so amused.

Well, I finally got in the time with Photoshop. :D  I love these stills sooooo much.  I had, however, forgotten just what a pain in the ass it is to erase around guys with spiky hair.  It takes so damn long.  But, hey, it's done, and I'm pleased with how it turned out, so what else matters, right?  Rien.

Click on the link for the wallpaper size. :-)  No brushes were used.

Well, I finally made myself an icon, out of one of the gorgeous vid stills from Wake Me Up When September Ends.  I am still wicked excited that there IS a video!  LOL!  It is my absolute favourite song and I wasn't really sure if they would single it or not.  But if they're shooting a video, chances are damned good that September will be a single. :D  That makes me so happy.

Or course, said icon completely doesn't match my LJ colour scheme, but that isn't the point, lol.  The point is that these stills totally inspired me to open Photoshop, which I haven't done for a while, and create something.  I actually made a larger one to begin with, with lyrics from Warning, but of course you can't see those in a piddly little icon lol so here is the bigger version (sorry, I don't know how to embed images or links here yet):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/Tasyfa/Other%20Fanart/Musical%20Interludes/BJA_icon1_fullsize.jpg

Next time I'll use a pic that doesn't save so damn dark, lol, but this one...my, oh, my.  Yesterday was all about Rob, and today is all about Billie Joe.  Hee.  Except I'm struggling with Rob's new short hair. :-/  It's okay, and he looks way younger, but...I miss the shag cut.  *sniff*  There's nothing to run your fingers through.  Admittedly, you might get stuck in the super-hold gel if you ran your fingers through Billie Joe's hair lol, but it's the perfect length for that.  Mmmmmm.

Reading over what I've just written, I feel extremely fangirly tonight.  LOL.  How amusing, since I just said I wanted to *exit* a fandom soon.  Music is different, though, for a gazillion reasons - starting with the fact that the musicians are not fictional people. ;-)  Yes, fans might make up personalities et al, but they are real people nonetheless.  Whereas as sad as it may be (or joyous, depending on your POV *waves at Angela*), Max Evans ain't real.

In other fantabulous news, while I'd lost 2 mods this week (and I only have 3, lol), I've now gained 2 more lovely people!  Yay!  We will have an "orientation" chat later this week so we're all on the same page, and then away we go.  Well, away they go.  I get to supervise, lol.

Must.  Fight.  Urge.  To make more art.  It's already two o'clock in the morning and I need to come down out of the sky SOMETIME tonight and go to bed!!!
