FAQ

What is a sit spot?

A sit spot is a place you return to regularly where you have some contact with the natural world. That could be a park bench, a backyard, a balcony, or a window seat with a view of trees or sky. It serves as a personal space to connect with the environment.

Does it need to be in a forest?

No. A park bench, balcony, backyard, rooftop, or window seat all work. Consistency matters more than location.

How long is a session?

Ten minutes. You can stay longer, but the audio practices are designed for 10 minutes anchored to something you already do each day.

What if I miss a day?

The practice waits. Pick up where you left off. Consistency over time matters more than an unbroken streak.

Is this the same as meditation?

No. Instead of clearing your mind, you actively engage your senses outward toward the place. The place does some of the work. Most people who already meditate find it complements their existing practice.

What if sitting still makes me anxious?

If a practice feels overwhelming, open your eyes and find three stable unmoving things to look at. This is built into the program and called “Noticing Out.” You are always in control of how far you go.

What about cold or rainy weather?

Dress for it, shorten the session, or move inside to a window seat. A consistent four-minute sit in comfortable conditions beats a miserable ten-minute one outside.
