
AHMED ELMAHROUK
Ahmed F Elmahrouk was born in July 17th 1970 in Tanta, Egypt. His late father – Professor of Geology, Faculty of science-, and his mother is a lawyer. He was raised in the house of his mother’s family by his Uncle – A dermatologist and politician-. He entered the University of Tanta, Medical School in 1986, determined to continue the path of his uncle. Graduated top 12 of his class in 1993. He liked to fix problems and to work with his hands. A career in cardiothoracic surgery seemed natural for him. He Joined the residency program of cardiothoracic Surgery in 1995 at Tanta University. He spent 6 months as a clinical fellow in the Department of Cardiac and Vascular Surgery, Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany with famed pioneer Cardiac Surgeon Prof. Dr. med. Jochen Cremer. He also worked with Prof. Dr. Hans-Heiner Kramer the talented Congenital Cardiac Surgeon.
In 2001 he was granted a fellowship from The Nuffic Scholarship program (Netherlands organization for international cooperation in Higher education), He spent two years as Clinical Fellow in Cardiac Surgery Department, Leiden University Medical Center in Leiden the Netherlands, where He worked with The Mitral Repair Legend Robert Dion, and the Congenital Cardiac Surgery pioneer Mark Hazekamp. He worked also with Michel Versteegh the dedicated thoracic surgeon.
He then moved to Italy where he spent another two years Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery Department in Ospedale St. Croce E Carle Cuneo, Italy as a part of a fellowship program of the International Heart School, (J.W.Kirklin- L. Parenzan) Based in Bergamo. He worked with another Mitral Valve Surgery Legend Dr Claudio Grossi.
In 2005, he had his PHD in Cardio-thoracic Surgery from Tanta University, and he Became an associate Professor in the same university since 2012.
He has expanded beyond cardiothoracic surgery to build a multi-faceted career encompassing cutting-edge scientific research, public health advocacy as well as Charity missions to Tanzania, Sudan and Bangladesh as a part of muntada Aid. Muntada Aid is a global humanitarian charity which operates in some of the world’s most vulnerable places, by providing much needed assistance to communities that have been affected by disasters, conflicts, and the cycle of poverty.
Currently, Dr ElMahrouk is still pursuing his passion as cardio-thoracic surgeon for Adult and pediatric in King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Hospital, in Saudi Arabia and Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar
