\nin the summer of 2022, Tamara spent three weeks at Schloss Hollenegg, a castle in Austria reaching back to the 12th century. There, she engaged in a residency with a specific focus on glasswork, where she designed and produced a modern interpretation of an 18th-century candelabra found at the entrance of the castle.
\n
\n
\nThe piece pays homage to an object that was once the primary source of interior light, illuminating walls, tables, ceilings, and floors, and ranging from opulent chandeliers to single candle holders but has now become an object we mainly use for ambiance, illuminating special occasions.
\n

\nWe are all born naked. When naked, we are equal; equally vulnerable, equally exposed, equally weak, but we do not allow nakedness to define us. By covering ourselves, we do not strictly aim to hide our bare bodies. We use our second layer to create an identity, an image, a personality. We use materials, colors, and textures to make a unique statement, while simultaneously hiding, camouflaging and masking flaws and weaknesses.
\n
\nSecond skins is a series of resine vases, born naked, equally unremarkable and lacking a clear well defined identity. Once covered, each object gains its own characteristics through the materials and textures that conceal it, allowing it to express its own particular traits. With the help of the second skins they host, each vase will hold a unique sense of esthetics and feel to it, providing its own tactile sensations and visual language.

\nSecond Skins was exhibited at House of Today exhibition, Beirut.

\nGusts of Persephone's winds happened to blow through an inanimate population of rotund appearance and unknown origins. Traveling vast distances through skies of blue and clouds of white, they descended back onto terrestrial floors, to land in Milia M's window. Haphazard as it may be, they grew fond of their new landing and decided to take root. Calling in more of their kind to settle and grow together in a generation of kin. Here they will lie in soft light and soothingly calm surroundings till Boreas's northernly winds of frost catch up in half a year's time.

\n[euhhh] In linguistics, a filler is a sound or word spoken in a conversation by one participant to signal to others a pause or a transition.
\n
\n[halla2] In Beirut, in the specific context of our busy cosmopolitan urban lifestyles, we punctuate our conversations with fillers, sometimes to look for a word while switching languages, to sharpen a thought, or to react to daily stimuli.
\n
\nAs socially accepted buffer time, fillers play the role of sonic and oral translations of thought to speech. They materialize impressions, rather than meanings, into sounds. In this context, fillers are the manifestations of cultural and idiosyncratic oral patterns.
\n
\n[enno] By extending the presence of fillers outside the space and time usually assigned to them, this project intends to magnify their echo to our ears, eyes and touch. The outcomes mould this oral archive into volumetric objects. On the one hand, through the editing of recorded conversations; on the other, by crafting tactile objects which texture is generated by the frequency and volume of their sounds.

\n[fa] The installation invites the audience to explore these words in a constructed sensorial environment.
