capabilities (physical, social, leisure, and emotional) and adolescent wellbeing across multiple dimensions (physical, emotional, and social wellbeing). Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 737
adolescents aged 12 to 19 in Tabriz, Iran, in 2022. The study focused on
selected sites displaying specific adolescent behaviours in urban spaces,
including natural, commercial, sports, urban pathways and intersections,
and cultural settings. The questionnaires were used to evaluate environmental capabilities as independent variables and adolescent well-being as
the dependent variable.Multivariate regression Analyses were employed
to examine the impact of environmental capabilities on adolescent wellbeing within the defined typologies of urban spaces. The regression
analysis unveiled that the commercial sites significantly influenced adolescent well-being, particularly physical well-being (regression coefficient
= 0.437). It was found that environmental capabilities, categorized as
physical, social, leisure, and emotional, assume a pivotal role in adolescents’ well-being across physical, emotional, and social dimensions.

Through text analytics, the study aims to uncover topics, sentiments and themes in public opinion regarding this controversial building from social media data. Design/methodology/approach-This study utilized a big data and text analytics approach, employing topic modeling with the BERTopic technique, sentiment analysis with roBERTa and thematic analysis on 10,259 Reddit comments pertaining to the Vessel. Findings-The comments were grouped into 20 topics and seven themes, shedding light on discussions regarding the Vessel's philosophy of existence, critiques of the architect's approach, evaluations of project success or failure and considerations of the project's future. Negative sentiments dominate the discourse, reflecting widespread criticism and skepticism towards the project. Research limitations/implications-The manual data collection method, due to API restrictions, precluded tracking evolving trends over time. Nevertheless, the study provides insights for architects, urban planners, policymakers and stakeholders involved in public space design and management, highlighting the importance of considering user feedback from social media platforms. Originality/value-This study enriches our comprehension of how users perceive star architecture in the age of social media, focusing on hidden layers of discourse surrounding a controversial iconic building. By combining topic modeling and sentiment analysis, the study offers a novel approach to analyzing architectural public debates on social media platforms like Reddit.

The present study aimed to investigate the effect of the architecture and design of a supportive care environment on the treatment process in hospitals adopting a qualitative study design. Materials and Methods: This qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was conducted to investigate the effect of an optimal supportive care environment in hospitals based on the experiences and opinions of experts, university professors of architecture, and doctors in hospitals. To this end, experts were interviewed qualitatively and, then, eight main themes as well as 22 sub-themes were classified by performing content analysis. Furthermore, the effect of the environment on the patients, treatment control length, blood pressure control, and subjective nature of the disease's impact, as well as the effect of social relations on the vital signs, comprehensiveness and acceptability, place of using the supportive care model and a completely mechanical attitude towards humans in the modern period were all evaluated. Results: The effect of the optimal supportive care environment on the patients' treatment processes was confirmed by qualitatively reviewing the experts' viewpoints and collecting comprehensive information from other sources. Conclusions: In sum, it was recommended that that the heads of the hospitals should consider the concepts of optimal supportive care environment when designing and/or reconstructing hospitals.

situation of informal settlements. The social dimension of
empowerment is the concern of many thinkers who consider it
effective in solving the problems of marginalization. The purpose
of the research is to investigate the effect of social factors of place
in informal settlements on the social empowerment of its
residents. Regarding the data collection and analysis method, the
current research is of the correlation type and is based on the
structural equation model. The library and field data collection
method is a questionnaire that is completed with a sample of 150
people from the informal areas of Tabriz city. This research
evaluated social factors of place, the independent variable, and
social empowerment as the dependent variable. Based on the
findings of the research in the theoretical part of social factors
affecting the place of two factors, social capital and sense of
security, in the informal settlements of Tabriz city, there is a
significant relationship between the social factors of the place that
affect the body of these settlements and social empowerment
(awareness, interaction, and social participation). Also, the factor
of social capital has a greater impact on social empowerment than
the factor of sense of place security. Among the criteria of social
capital, the criterion of social belonging and the components of a
sense of security, supervision, and control have the most
significant impact on the social empowerment of residents.
Therefore, the use of public space, the existence of mixed uses,
and the improvement of visual accessibility will impact the social
empowerment of the residents of informal settlements.

Attention to these criteria and indicators has a decisive role on the quality of neighborhood units. The aim of the present research is to identify the influential cultural criteria in the continuation of the tradition of living in the neighborhood unit and the extent of the impact and relationship of these criteria on each other, in selected samples from the city of Tabriz in the three decades of the 70s, 80s and 90s. The current research is quantitative and interview and observation tools were used to collect data. This research was selected and investigated in 2023 with the statistical population of 11 neighborhoods from each decade and a total of 33 neighborhoods. The data were analyzed by inferential statistics and Spearman's non-parametric correlation test, using smart pls software, with a significance level of 5%. Among the influential cultural criteria, physical-spatial criteria and perceptual-psychological criteria had a strong positive correlation with a coefficient of 0.575. In the 70s and 90s and the 80s and 90s, activity-behavioral-performance indicators had a significant relationship and a strong positive correlation with a coefficient of 0.521 with a level of 0.05 and a coefficient of 0.570 with a significance level of 0.01, respectively. In the examined samples, physical-spatial and perceptual-psychological indicators have the highest correlation and relationship. And there is no relationship between physical and perceptional criteria with activity-behavioral-performance criteria.

The way of life of Iranians and their houses was formed in a cultural continuity throughout history. With the emergence of modernization in the Iranian society, fundamental changes occurred in the culture and consequently in the architecture and houses and the way of life of the Iranians. This research seeks to find out what principles and dimensions the continuation of the tradition of life with a cultural approach includes and whether the continuation of the tradition of life with a cultural approach has been going on in the residential spaces of Tabriz in three decades or not? In order to answer these questions, first, the continuity and the conditions of continuity were examined and along with that, the indicators of culture and tradition of life were also extracted. Then, by designing the question based on
the summary matrix of the theoretical part, interviews were conducted with people living in 12 houses from three different decades of the 70s, 80s and 90s, in order to determine whether in Whether these houses continue the tradition of life or not. The findings of the research in the theoretical part indicate that the tradition of life has three dimensions, physical-spatial, perceptual-psychological and activity-behavioral-functional, and in three scales, individual (smart), family-kinship (meso) and Social-neighborhood (macro) can be defined. Thefindings of the research in the field section show that in the physical-spatial dimension, in areas such as the filter status of the private sphere, the quality of the bedrooms, the view and lighting of the home spaces, continuity can be seen during three decades. In the perceptual-psychological dimension, audio and visual privacy in three scales of micro, medium and macro has been continuous during three decades, but in some factors, such as observing the visual privacy of the open kitchen, it has remained static and unchanged. In the activity-behavioral functional dimension, the examination of the spaces shows that all the spaces in the Iranian house are multi-functional and different behavioral positions can be seen in each space and each scale in every three decades. Or, there have been changes in neighborly relations in three decades, which indicate the loss of neighborly relations in Iranian society and in the city of Tabriz.

During this period, coming Reza Shah's modernist government to power, renovation projects began and the face of many cities in Iran is changed. In this regard, the examination of the state of identity from two theoretical and practical dimensions during this period seems to be a reviewable and essential matter. The question that arises here is what is the position of identity in the theoretical dimensions and practical measures of planning and implementing urban contemporization plans carried out between 1925 and 1978?. To answer the questions, the present study is conducted by analytical-descriptive research method. In this regard, the projects implemented in the years 1925 to 1978 are classified in two first and second Pahlavi periods. Finally, the approach of each period and its measures are analyzed in terms of tendency towards differentiation, similarity, and unity in the realization of identity. The results show that the approach to identity in the first Pahlavi Era is in its tendency towards modernity and renovation as development symbol, and in the second Pahlavi Era, with the tendency of regeneration and contemporization plans, the approach is moving from predominance of the distinction of identity towards the continuing and preserving unity in identity

The common chapter between these three fields of study is the need to harmonize the new structure with the old one. This also requires consideration of the two concepts of "cohesion" and "continuity" despite the change in different dimensions of the historical context by interpolation, in the shadow of which a link can be established between the new context and the building of harmony. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the impact of changes in the physical and non-physical dimensions of the historical context after the intermediates on their evaluation of qualitative components by examining the audience evaluation of two intermediates in Tabriz historical market. Accordingly, by deductive logic, a library study, research model and questionnaire were formulated and 175 field questionnaires were completed for each of the two sets of constitutional and proprietary. The obtained data show that audience evaluation of the impact of historical texture continuity and cohesion on different dimensions after interphase will vary depending on the characteristics of the intermediate building and it is not possible to formulate a model that has been prioritized and discussed in previous studies

It is a valuable space for attending the community in which one attends voluntarily, informally, and regularly or irregularly. There are such places in urban areas of Iran where people are able to attend in order to do social and religious activities and it seems like that the architectural nature of such spaces has some similarities and differences with the definition of third place. The research question is, “what are the features of third place in pre-modern cities of Iran and are the features in accordance with the definition of third place?”. This is a developmental research conducted via the interpretive-historical method. The findings indicate that third place is commonplace in Iranian Cities and some architecture types like public, religious and residential spaces have fundamental similarities with the definitions of third place In Iranian Historical cities, but there ...

The idea of child friendly city, to reach child welfare, makes urban spaces proper for childrens`... more The idea of child friendly city, to reach child welfare, makes urban spaces proper for childrens` activities. Today mant countries apply child friendly city principles, but most designed urban spaces for children in Iran are other countries` preceding examples and experiences, with no regarding to cultural context. However, urban planning does not reach its goals unless all citizens` needs are included. Children need an environment to address and be challenged in it. A place has to encourage children to discover and develop their infornations. Islam not only pays attention to present needs of children, but also considers them in a path named “Perfection (Kamal)” and presents a plan to cross it. A designed place with attention to Islamic values has to be the equilibrium point of human different needs. In other words, material tools pay the way for reachimg spiritual aims. Islam divides children age range into three 7-years phases. Children need to be free and trained by playing in first 7 years. They need to learn hoe to recite Quran, also scientific lessons in second 7 years. The most effective factor on children behaviors is the environment here which highlights the role of urban spaces in child pedagogy. Third 7 years are the time for asking help from children and teach them Halal and Haram issues. Due to the importance of the relation between child and the environment in second 7 years, this research focuses on 6 to 12 years old children. It is obvious that there is no Islamic Iranian example of urban designing project that considers children as city members and their present and future needs along with growing up in the environment. Hence, this research is decided to find the answer of this question: How can neighborhoods open spaces affect training Islamic religious contents to children, as well as meeting their present needs? Studing religious, gnostic and philosophic resources, as theorithical basis, and by usig deductive strategy to set a theorethical model, also inductive strategy to test the model in field study, an Islamic Iranian model named “Child Preceptor City” is presented. According to this model, a proper city from Islamic perspective adopts content approach (the nature of childrens` needs) as well as procedure approach (the process of children growth) and these two approaches together turn a city to an active preceptor. Findings show that there are five criteria forming child preceptor city structure: training contents (Responsibility, God-contentment, Endeavour, Moderation, Loving God, Believe in resurrection, Purposefulness, Surveillance, God-obedience); training methods (Theater, Story telling, Contemplation, Field Trip, Encouragement and Punishment, Observation, Having a role model, Kindness, Consulting, Preaching); environmental features that are divided in four categories: Geographical/Physical (Physical realm, Physical desirability, The least physical risks, Natural elements, Affordable setting, Light and shadow), Functional (Priority of function to the form, Interacting with other children, Family motivation to play outside the house), Perceptual (Social support, Presence of an acquainted adult, Considering path and landmark, prior to other cognitive elements, Mental realm, Challenging and complex environment, Discoverable environment), Behavioral (Various behavior settings, Regular freely playing, No restrictive environmental rules); cultural environment; and characteristics of a special age group. The relations between them are defined as: training contents are transferred to children with specific characteristics due to their age range, by training methods; with the help of environmental features, in a cultural bed. Contributed environmental indexes in transferring religious contents to childrens, were ascertained by Delphi method. To answer the research main question, six middle class neighborhoods in Tabriz city were selected in which the relation between environmental indexes and religious contents were studied by indirect observation and semi organized interviews with 72 childrens 6 to 12 years old. As findings show, environment can play role in informal pedagogy and transferring religious contents to children, besides formal pedagogy at school or home. It can be either obstructive or empowering in a way that environmental empowering indexes ought to be identified while obstructive ones need to be omitted. “Feasibility of having a personal realm” and “social support” as empowering indexes, have the most frequencies in target neighborhoods; whereas “various behavior settings”, “affordable settings”, “social and physical risks” and “complex and challenging environment” as obstructing indexes, have the least frequencies. “Family motivation to play outside the house”, “the least physical risks” and “designed park” are environmental superior indexes in Parvaz district. “Presence of natural elements in parks” and “the least social risks” distinguish Zaferanieh district from…

Todays, responding to the material and spiritual needs concurrently, as two important needs, is the main issue in the urban environment management. In this regard, due to the traditional structure of the Islamic cities, which was formed by a number of neighborhoods, tasks of these neighborhoods are such as communication, solidarity creation, and the resident’s needs satisfaction. In this context, this study aimed to extract criteria, in order to the environmental response of neighborhoods from the perspective of the Islamic thought, was formulated with the citations to the Islamic reliable sources. This article tries to answer these fundamental questions, including: Fist, from the perspective of the Islamic worldview, the responsive environment in terms of human presence includes what kind of guidelines...

However, the impact of a sense of home on the quality of life of older adults has not received the full recognition it deserves yet. The present study is based on the following assumptions (1) older adults living in residential care facilities would have a better understanding of how it feels like to live in one’s home precisely because of living away from home; (2) older adults living at home would be affected in terms of quality of life by their subconscious perceptions of sense of home despite lacking an explicit familiarity with the concept. This study aims to identify the concept of a sense of home and evaluate its impact on the quality of life of older adults. To this end, through a qualitative analysis of participant interviews, we extracted the main themes of a sense of home for older adults dwelling in residential care facilities in Tabriz, Iran. Also, to ensure reliability, we tested the extracted themes quantitatively and interviewed a questionnaire in a wider statistical population. Our findings indicate that on the one hand, older adults feel satisfied with the residential aspect of where they live if they are provided with privacy, easily navigable routes, collective spaces, mental health. On the other, they can also achieve physical, social, and mental health and feel satisfied with the care provision dimension of where they live if they are provided with internal and external facilities such as easily walkable paths to avoid collapsing or injury, accessible health care options, chances of social interaction, as well as peace and serenity. The conclusion is that by providing a context for privacy, social interaction, independence, and memorability, a place can leave a positive impact on self-esteem, happiness, life satisfaction, and ultimately quality of life among older adults.
