About Us – The Tabletop Bellhop

The Tabletop Bellhop Team, Moe, Deanna and Sean.

What is the Tabletop Bellhop?

Tabletop Bellhop is a podcast and a website dedicated to answering your tabletop gaming questions, providing game night advice and sharing game reviews. Every podcast episode we answer a gaming or game night question, we talk about the games weโ€™ve been playing since the last episode and we do two (or sometimes even three) detailed board game reviews. We love all manner of tabletop games, and sometimes we dip into RPG territory, but our main focus is on board games.

Think of us as like a Dear Abby but for tabletop gamers, so instead of answering questions about etiquette and relationship advice we talk about how to keep your game group running smoothly (which oddly enough, often involves etiquette, like “No Cheetos!“, and relationship advice, like “How do you deal with nepotism at the table?” ).

We’re here to help you find new games to play. We’re to help people make informed decisions about their game collections. We want to help folks organize game nights for maximum fun and entertainment. We want to tell you about new and hot titles and hidden gems. We want to save people money when shopping for games. We want to use our many years of gaming experience to help you make your game nights better. We want to help you and your game group have more fun doing that thing we all love: gaming.

How can the Cardboard Concierge help you and your game group?

We love hearing your questions. If you have a gaming related question, the odds are there are others out there wondering the same thing. We want to get your questions, give you our best answer, and then share that answer with the community for the benefit of all of our gaming groups.

If you’d like to submit a question you can send an email to [email protected].

We record live on Twitch every Wednesday at 8pm ET. Prefer on-demand content? Watch our edited episodes on YouTube or listen to the streamlined podcast version on your favorite podcatcher. If reading is more your style, you’ll find written versions of our reviews and game night advice right here on the website. However you like to consume your tabletop gaming contentโ€”watching, listening, or readingโ€”weโ€™ve got you covered!

Answers to some FAQs about us:

The answer to these and other burning questions can be found in a special Bellhop Backstory episode we recorded back in August of 2024.

Weโ€™ve developed a few rules over the years, what we like to call The Bellhopโ€™s Laws. These are things that weโ€™ve said or mentioned many times on the podcast or that come up often in articles.

The Bellhops First Law and a very important rule in regards to gaming in general, is that the best games in your collection are the ones that actually get played. It doesnโ€™t matter how fancy the game is, how much you spent on it, how clever the mechanics are, how great the miniatures are, or how well known the designer is. None of this matters if the game just sits on your shelf.

The Bellhopโ€™s Second Law is that your first play of any game will be eXteme! No matter how hard you try, or how many times you re-read the rules or how many how-to-play videos you watch, you will mess up. No one gets a game right on the first time and sometimes itโ€™s only ten games in or even ten years later that you discover youโ€™ve been playing a game wrong the entire time.

Our newest law, one that weโ€™ve learned the hard way and that is a bit of a follow up the the Bellhop’s Second Law, is โ€œGames are better when you play by the rules, who knew?โ€

Moe and Deanna’s eldest daughter, Gwen, has done commission pieces to create all of the artwork you see on our podcast thumbnails, etc. She’s a University student who is pursuing a career as an illustrator. If you’d like to see more of her work you can click here to check out her Instagram account.

All of the art in our “Inspired-by x game” line-up of merch is digital art that was hand drawn by Moe and Deanna’s daughter, Gwen, who is working towards being a professional illustrator.
