I came for the fried gyoza set meal (they also have boiled gyoza) for JPY 500, but it was sold out! (╯︵╰,)
Since I had already sat down and waited for a while, I couldn’t just leave now.
It’s a charming little place run by an elderly couple.
When I arrived exactly at noon, they told me, "You’ll have to wait an hour."
There were only two other groups ahead of me and I wasn’t too hungry yet, so I replied, "I can wait."
The mom jokingly said, "What a troublesome customer!" I think her gruffness is just a sign of her affection.
The menu includes set meals, rice dishes, noodles, and combos, with prices ranging from JPY 600 to JPY 850, making it quite affordable.
When I went to place my order at the kitchen, the mom quipped, "I’ll just ask you what you want!" (laughs)
You can really see the dynamic between her and the dad (laughs).
After waiting for 45 minutes, everything was ready.
So it wasn’t really an hour wait after all! (^^)
- Chicken Karaage Set Meal: JPY 650
- Gin Set: JPY 850 (includes ramen, egg fried rice, and shumai)
The karaage came skewered.
The chicken was juicy and the batter was well-seasoned and delicious.
(I think they use a commercial pre-mix, but I really like it!)
The small side dishes included sweet melon with sauce, dried radish, and pickled cucumbers, all well-flavored and tasty.
The rice came in a large bowl (and yes, it was properly delicious!).
The soup was a clear broth, and the fluffy deep-fried tofu was a delightful touch.
All of this for just JPY 650!? I was amazed!
The other dish was also surprising! Everything was full-sized except for the shumai!
With both set meals, it felt like lunch for three people!!
As for the ramen, it was made with thick noodles.
I like thick noodles, but the flavor didn’t work for me... I couldn’t finish it.
The shumai was easy to eat with no odd smell, which was great!
Though there were only three pieces, they were large, so they were quite satisfying.
Now for the egg fried rice—this was quite delicious!
It was a simple dish made with just green onions and eggs, but it was very tasty!
They must have used lard, right? It was flavorful and so fluffy.
I finished with one side dish, one-third of the fried rice, and one skewer of karaage.
I left the rest to my husband, but even he gave up!
After all, it was enough for three people! (laughs)(laughs)(laughs)
I took the leftover fried rice home at my own risk (;^ω^)
Watching them, it seemed like their age affected their speed.
After cooking, the mom took a moment to relax with a cigarette before giving me a warm smile and saying, "Thank you!"
So please come only if you can wait; if you’re impatient, it’s best to stay away!
Rushing is strictly prohibited ( ◜‿◝ ) It was a great meal.
