Today, I visited the restaurant that opened in May of this year for lunch (the 104th in the Funabori-Shinozaki area).
After it opened in May, I tried to go on a Saturday, only to find a sign that said, "We will be temporarily closed for my grandchild's sports day!"
I couldn’t help but think to myself, "Okan, it’s only just opened!" without even knowing who Okan was.
Now, about four months later, I finally made my first visit today.
I arrived just after 11 o'clock, and although there were only a few tables, it quickly filled up.
Okan's restaurant has already become popular.
I had decided what I wanted to eat beforehand.
I knew they served grilled fish, simmered fish, and fried set meals for lunch, and since I was in the mood for fried food today, I chose the "Fried Set Meal" for JPY 1,000.
The food came out relatively quickly, but then a little mishap occurred.
I was informed that tofu had been forgotten in the miso soup, so it was served late.
The meal included two pieces of fried horse mackerel, one potato croquette, alongside cabbage and tomato. The side dish was simmered eggplant. The shiny rice was perfect, and the miso soup that came late was just like "Okan's flavor."
First off, in today’s economy, JPY 1,000 is a bargain. Great cost performance.
But it's not just about cost performance; it was actually delicious.
The fried horse mackerel was beautifully cooked and fluffy. I suspect the fish is from the nearby fish shop, Uoshin, since it’s close by and fresh.
Judging by the quality of the food, it’s clear that Okan puts a lot of care into her work, and her personality shines through.
The service to other customers was also very good.
However, Okan, perhaps due to her age, mentioned that she can be forgetful, saying, "By Friday, I get so tired that my mind goes blank."
I didn’t point out, "But today is Saturday, not Friday!"
Even the sign outside saying "CLOSE" while they are open adds a nice charm to the place.
Everything is great—the food and the warm personality. I’ve completely fallen in love with "Gohan Ya Okan!"
