Located about a 10-minute walk from Exit A of Akasaka-Mitsuke Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line,
Bangkok Kitchen Akasaka is a Thai restaurant situated on the B1F of Akasaka Garden City along Aoyama Street.
I visited for the first time during lunch in early January.
Although the interior seemed compact, it surprisingly had a spacious layout with a total of 28 table seats. I took a seat at a table for two, and they thoughtfully provided knee blankets for added comfort during the chilly season.
At this time, it appeared that there were more customers coming to buy takeout bento boxes than dining in.
I checked the menu on the table. The lunch menu featured about 13 items, including Thai-style curry, noodles, and rice dishes.
From the selection, I ordered the "Hearty Thai-style Suki Noodle (Suki Nam)" (JPY 1000).
The dish arrived shortly without much wait.
The ingredients for the "Hearty Thai-style Suki Noodle" included pork, small shrimp, squid, cabbage, shimeji mushrooms, scallions, eggs, and carrots—quite a generous mix.
Unlike other places that often use glass noodles or rice noodles for Thai Suki, this restaurant offers a unique twist by using Chinese noodles.
I took my first bite, and the Chinese noodles paired surprisingly well with the Thai Suki, creating a delightful taste. The chewy texture felt refreshingly new.
The soup was piping hot, warming me up quite nicely. With plenty of ingredients, I enjoyed a variety of flavors and textures. The portions were satisfying, though the cuts of pork and cabbage were slightly rough, occasionally revealing a giant piece, which I found charming (^^).
I drank every last drop of the soup and finished my meal.
It was a great meal.
