Opened in 1950, the first "Robata" was established by Tomiya Amae, a person with diverse hobbies. Many artists, including Taro Okamoto and actor Tatsuya Nakadai, frequented the establishment, drawn by Amae's wide circle of friends, and engaged in lively cultural discussions with the townspeople. It is said that the style of having a hearth in the center of the room, surrounding the guests, became the origin of robatayaki restaurants across the country.
